Apparently, filmmaker, Michael Moore didn’t see the irony of supporting a white man for president while slamming the Democratic National Committee’s new debate rules, which will remove the individual donor threshold and likely help billionaire Michael Bloomberg qualify for February’s Democratic debate.
“I got to tell you what’s so disgusting about this,” shouted Moore. “I watched the debate here in Iowa two weeks ago. The all-white debate. And the fact that the Democratic DNC will not allow Cory Booker on that stage, will not allow Julian Castro on that stage, but they’re going to allow Mike Bloomberg on that stage because he’s got a billion f—ing dollars!”
Several of the remaining Democratic presidential candidates voiced their displeasure with the rule change, insinuating the DNC made the switch to be more inclusive of billionaires while refusing to do so for candidates of color who struggled to meet the qualification thresholds in the proceeding debates.
“The DNC didn’t change the rules to ensure good, diverse candidates could remain on the debate stage,” tweeted Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren. “They shouldn’t change the rules to let a billionaire on.”
Jeff Weaver, the senior adviser to Sen. Bernie Sanders, echoed Warren’s comments, saying Mike Bloomberg was “trying to buy his way into the Democratic nomination” in a statement released on Friday.
Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who hasn’t appeared in the last two Democratic debates, tweeted, “Billionaire Bloomberg just bought the DNC.”
Moore, 65, has predicted President Trump will win reelection because of his “rabid” supporters and apologized to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini for the Trump-ordered airstrike that killed top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in early January.
