There has been a massive uptick in the number of dengue fever cases in Brazil during the first two months of 2013. So far 2000,000 people are known to have been infected and 33 people have died. Dengue is spread by the Aedes egypti mosquito which have recently been reported as exhibiting resistance to DEET.
