Early this morning reports began to trickle that revealed a mass shooting event had occurred at the Umqua Community College in Douglas County, Oregon. The Sheriff’s Department first received a call that shots were fired at 10:30 AM, and by around 11:30 the fire district was still advising local residents to stay away from the campus.

At 12:30, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department declared that there’s “no more threat” as emergency responders poured in from the surrounding area. Initial reports suggest that the suspected shooter was in custody. However, the precise status of the shooter is unconfirmed, as conflicting reports indicate that he was either injured or killed.

The number of casualties is also unconfirmed, with reports indicating that anywhere between 7 and 15 people have been killed, and 20 more have been injured. Several students in critical condition are being airlifted from the scene. Eyewitnesses report that 20 Ambulances and 75 police units have been sent to the campus, including 9 agents with the ATF. The police aren’t allowing the remaining students to leave in their own vehicles, and are searching their belongings before having them bused out of the campus.
