Liberal Indoctrination 101 : Reagan Was Sexist and Conservatives Think Everyone is Lazy

A university education is an opportunity to go into lifelong debt and pay for the privilege of being brainwashed with a liberal agenda before searching in vain for a job that doesn’t exist.

Liberal Indoctrination 101 : Reagan Was Sexist and Conservatives Think Everyone is Lazy

“Those who have the youth have the future.” ~ Hans Schemm

An alert student at the University of South Carolina was stunned when reading the textbook for a course called “Introduction to Social Work Profession and Social Welfare.”

Student Anna Chapman turned the textbook over to Turning Point USA, a group whose mission it is to educate “educates students about the importance of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and capitalism. Through non-partisan debate, dialogue, and discussion, Turning Point USA believes that every young person can be enlightened to true free market values.”

The outrageous textbook was then passed on to Campus Reform, a watchdog group for higher education.

The mandated reading includes sections such as “Conservative Extremes in the 1980’s and Early 1990’s,” which claims Reagan “ascribed to women primarily domestic functions’ and failed to appoint many women to significant positions of power during his presidency.”

The excerpts sent to Campus Reform make no mention of Reagan’s appointment of Sandra Day O’Connor, the first female Supreme Court Justice; his appointment of the first female U.S. Representative to the United Nations, Jeane Kirkpatrick; Elizabeth Dole, the first female appointed to Secretary of the Department of Transportation; or that over 1,400 women were chosen by Reagan to fill powerful, policy-making positions.

Chapman also took issue with the way conservatives are discussed in the text.

“Conservatives ‘tend to take a basically pessimistic view of human nature. People are conceived of as being, self-centered, lazy and incapable of true charity,’” the text states.

Wealthy individuals are also a topic of scorn throughout the course reading, which argues that “[the] wealthy find that having a social class of poor people is useful.”

“First, poor people can do the ‘dirty work’ for rich people that the latter don’t want to do,” such as dangerous or menial jobs. “Second, having a poor social class emphasizes that the wealthy are higher in the social structure. . .and allows them to look down on classes below them.” (source)

Some people are wondering what all of the fuss is about. After all, it’s one textbook in one course on one campus.

The issue is that this is a biased influence on young people. Teaching revisionist history from an authoritative standpoint can strongly color the future. History tells us that by controlling the opinions of young people, society can be strongly influenced. Does the incident at USC sound anything like this?

Adolf Hitler rose to power in Germany during the years of the Weimar republic.  Hitler and the Nazis were able to rise to power as a result of their control over the German society.  One of the main aspects of society that Hitler and the Nazi Party focused its efforts towards was that of the youth.  Hitler was able to gain control of the impressionable youth by making changes in the educational system and by the formation of the Hitler Youth.

Edward Behrendt, once a member of the Hitler Youth stated “If you can capture the minds of young children and persuade them to become dedicated to your cause, your theory of the truth and your theory of what is right and wrong, then you can hold the whole country captive and you have complete control” (Behrendt 1).

Hitler knew that as soon as he was able to control the youth, he would also control the country.  The control of the youth played a huge role in the Nazification of German Society. (source)

It used to be that seeking a university education allowed a person to improve themselves. Now it looks as though it’s really more of an opportunity to go into lifelong debt and pay for the privilege of being brainwashed with a liberal agenda before searching in vain for a job that doesn’t exist.
