Legally Armed Kroger Customer Saves Elderly Man From Assault

Last week, a concealed carry permit holder saved an elderly man from assault outside of a Kroger store in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The armed shopper, who asked to be identified as “Gene,” said he was exiting the store when he saw the older man being surrounded by a group of people.

“I saw seven people against one guy and I did not like those odds,” said Gene.

The outnumbered man was elderly so Gene said he felt obligated to get involved. With his gun drawn, the attackers turned their attention.

“They kept yelling this ‘isn’t your fight, you need to walk away you need to put the gun down’,” said Gene.

Note: While it is refreshing to see this story reported in such a positive light on a local news station, it is unfortunate that they referred to Gene as a “gunman,” because that term is generally used to refer to a criminal or crazed shooter.

Local authorities said Gene’s actions were not unlawful. Conceal and carry instructor Nathan House said, “Anytime someone is afraid for their life or a life of a third party because someone is committing a felony involving force or violence, you are allowed to use deadly force in order to stop that situation.”

How funny is it that this happened at a Kroger, the frequent target of Ignorant Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, the national gun control organization backed by former New York Nanny Mayor Michael Bloomberg? The tenacious group has been trying HARD to get Kroger to ban the open carry of firearms in all of its stores. Kroger said NOPE to the request, which was a wise decision, because the Silly Moms group bases all of their gun violence claims on, well, rubbish and propaganda. Oh, and even though Kroger rejected their request to ban guns in their stores, the insufferable group STILL keeps launching obnoxious campaigns to try to pressure the company.

Perhaps it is in Kroger’s best interests to allow responsible, legally-armed citizens in their stores because, well – crimes DO happen in and around grocery stores, and armed citizens often DO help prevent and stop them. Maybe an armed citizen’s appearance at this mob attack incident at a Kroger in Tennessee would have stopped the thugs in their tracks, for example.

So, Gene, bravo to you for being an excellent example of how a responsible, legally-armed citizen can help prevent crime. Every time a story like this is publicized, it provides more proof that the propaganda-based fear tactics of groups like Silly Moms are just that – silly.
