Los Angeles Lakers basketball star, LeBron James is accusing president Donald Trump of using sports to divide people. Based on the antics Trump and vice president Mike Pence pulled during last year’s NFL season, there’s a good chance James is correct.
“[Trump is] dividing us and what I’ve noticed over the last few months,” James, a former player for the Cleveland Cavaliers told CNN before the official opening of his I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. “He’s kinda used sport to kinda divide us, and that’s something that I can’t relate to because I know that sport was the first time I ever was around someone white and I got the opportunity to see them and learn about them and they got an opportunity to learn about me and we became very good friends.”
If you’re reading this an still offended that people you don’t know didn’t kneel for a song that’s reverent to you and your political master, consider reading the following article:
“Sports has never been something that divides people it’s always been something that brings someone together,” James added.
The major offense to the more conservative-leaning authoritarians took place last year during the NFL season. They got upset and overly emotional that a bunch of “whiny rich football players” had the nerve to actually use their first amendment and natural rights to freedom of expression and kneel in protest during
the holiest of all songs The National Anthem.
Not long after the protest which was started by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, Trump called those who chose to kneel “sons of bitches” and suggested they should be fired for using their freedom. That spurred an even larger group of football players to take a knee the next week in a show of unity against Trump’s anti-free speech orthodoxy. Of course, that spurred war mongering alt-righties to “boycott” the NFL because their feelings were hurt that some of the slaves no longer wanted to show reverence to the ruling class’ symbol: the flag.
The following video contains a few curse words. It may not be suitable for all listeners, especially the right wing easily offended snowflakes that could melt down easily.
James is likely in the right this time. Trump found a red meat issue that was designed to rile up his base and divide the nation into two groups: those who worship the flag and demand others live like they do while feeling the same about an inanimate object, and those who don’t give a damn.
James and other athletes have donated a lot of money even after the government has stolen a good portion of their income in the form of taxation (which is still theft, by the way) and have therefore done more good for humanity than any politician or ruler ever could – voluntarily.
