LA Health Officials Announce Discovery of Squirrel With Ancient Bubonic Plague (Black Death)

Recently in Los Angeles County, health officials confirmed that a squirrel was infected with the ancient bubonic plague, or the black death, the plague that killed millions of people in the 14th century, and millions more in other eras of history.

The ancient bubonic plague wiped out whole European populations in the 14th century, and almost wiped out Europe entirely. Today, there are about 7 cases of human bubonic plague a year, and the discovery of a squirrel with the disease in Los Angeles may mean that the bacteria is coming from somewhere, and it will spread more.

Where could it possibly be coming from, you might ask? I don’t think anyone knows. The Bubonic Plague is essentially the bacteria strain ‘Yersinia Pestis’, and symptoms of the Black Death include extremely swollen, bulbous, eventually blackened lymph nodes, sudden intense fever, muscle aches, extreme weakness, etc.

If left untreated, the bacteria can travel to all major organs in the body, in between one and six days. The plague can cause rapid blood poisoning, and gangrene, and a person could easily die from it in just 3 days. When the bacteria spreads to the lungs, it becomes a ‘pneumonic plague’, and it becomes spreadable by air, and not just by blood (fleas, bite of a rodent, etc.)

However, the mortality rate of Black Death these days is about 11%, because it is treatable with antibiotics. It is still extremely dangerous, potentially lethal, and hellish. Though it is as not as catastrophic as it was in the 1300′s, it would be quite hellish if this spread around.

What if government associates or ‘health officials’ tried to vaccinate people for the Black Death with vaccines that actually do damage to people themselves? That is very possible. Though it is more likely that this won’t spread, and everything will be okay.
