ISIS Claims Responsibility For Garland Texas Shooting

To the surprise of no one, one of the gunman, Elton Simpson, linked himself to ISIS in a tweet that was made just before the attack.

Over the weekend, two Islamic extremists showed up to a free speech event in Garland, Texas, armed with assault rifles and wearing body armor. They were planning to open fire on the crowd that had gathered for a Mohammad drawing contest, which also included a right-wing Dutch politician who has long been on Al-Qaeda’s hit list. Fortunately, the two men were killed by an off duty police officer, and only one security officer was injured.

To the surprise of no one, one of the gunman, Elton Simpson, linked himself to ISIS in a tweet that was made just before the attack (also not surprising, he was no stranger to federal investigators). However, until recently there was no real evidence to connect him with the organization. Earlier today, those concerns were proven correct when ISIS announced on its official radio station, that they were behind the attack. They have since vowed to carry out more attacks on American soil.

It is possible that Elton Simpson was merely inspired by ISIS, and that the Islamic State is only taking credit for the attack for propaganda purposes. However, it’s important note that there is strong evidence suggesting that ISIS may have a training camp in Mexico, close to the border with Texas. If there is a connection, then we can rest assured knowing that they are so far, no match for Texas traffic cops.
