Late last night, protestors gathered in Ferguson to mark the one year anniversary of Michael Brown’s death. A candlelight vigil was held and the crowd observed a moment of silence for Brown. However, one year after the shooting in Ferguson, it’s obvious that tensions are still high in this community.

According to mainstream sources like CNN, a man exchanged gunfire with an unknown person on Sunday, which drew the attention of several detectives in an unmarked SUV. A gunfight ensued between the police and the suspect, who was shot several times and is now in the hospital. The police claim that his weapon was stolen. Alternative sources like Cop Block however, report that the suspect in question was Tyrone Harris, whose father was a friend of Michael Brown. They also report that the shooting was recorded, but the cameraman was quickly arrested by the police. Social media reports suggest that the cameraman begged the police to provide treatment for Tyrone, but refused to do so until an ambulance arrived.

Following the gunfight, the vigil turned violent. Riot police arrived in full force while protesters hurled objects at them. Three police officers were injured, one journalist was robbed, and several businesses were also damaged. As for the shootout between Tyrone Harris and the police, the information coming from mainstream and alternative sources are conflicted to say the least. We probably won’t know anything for sure unless the video in question surfaces.
