Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) theory that hurricanes caused by climate change “hit vulnerable communities first” is “ridiculous.”
Moore, who left Greenpeace in 1986 and considers himself a “sensible environmentalist,” said the only defense against hurricanes is “better infrastructure, evacuation” and not building on sand beaches.
So hurricanes caused by climate change “hit vulnerable communities first”? Ridiculous. Do you think that’s why Dorian missed West Palm Beach?
Only defence is better infrastructure, evacuation, & don’t build on sand beaches. https://t.co/gEpPaoHtu6

“So hurricanes caused by climate change ‘hit vulnerable communities first’? Ridiculous. Do you think that’s why Dorian missed West Palm Beach? Only defense is better infrastructure, evacuation, & don’t build on sand beaches,” Moore tweeted Wednesday in response to AOC’s tweet on climate change.
“This is what climate change looks like: it hits vulnerable communities first. I can already hear climate deniers screeching: “It’s always been like this! You’re dim,” etc. No. This is about science & leadership. We either decarbonize&cut emissions, or we don’t & let people die,” AOC tweeted Tuesday.
