Government Blows $850 Million on Virtual Fence to Secure 53 Miles of Southern Border

When Boeing and the Department of Homeland Security partnered up to build a virtual border security fence in 2006 they promised to have the Northern and Southern borders, totaling some 6000 miles, completely secured by the fence.

When Boeing and the Department of Homeland Security partnered up to build a virtual border security fence in 2006 they promised to have the Northern and Southern borders, totaling some 6000 miles, completely secured by the fence by 2009.

Four years and $850 million dollars later, approximately 53 miles, or less than 1%, of our borders have been secured with the fence, which includes equipment like motion sensors and cameras.
