Ghost Ship: Mystery Oil Tanker Washes Ashore in Liberia with No One on Board

A Panama-registered oil tanker named the Tamaya 1 mysteriously washed ashore in Liberia West Africa this week.

The vessel, which hadn’t been heard from for three weeks, was completely abandoned.

It was last seen on April 21st heading to Dakar.

Authorities — who didn’t show up for days to even assess the situation after locals called it in believing the ship had fallen victim to pirates — claim that they believe the most likely explanation is that the captain ran out of money to pay for the crew so everyone left… case closed.

Really?
