Georgia man convicted of shooting baby Antonio Santiago

What in God’s name can possess a couple of teenagers to shoot a baby in the face? Having a mother that you knew would cover for you may have had something to do with it.

While the whole of America was wrapped up in the Zimmerman/Martin white on black murder case a child died.

Antonio Santiago, aged 13 months, was shot in the face as his mother pushed him along in his stroller. Antonio who lived in Brunswick Georgia with his mother Sherry West, was killed because his mother had no money to give to the teenagers who tried to rob her.

De’Marquis Elkins who was 17 at the time of the killing will spend the rest of his life in prison. Dominique Lang, who was 14 at the time of the murder is to be tried at a later date.

Elkins’ mother has been found guilty of tampering with evidence, she tried to cover up what her son had done.

What in God’s name can possess a couple of teenagers to shoot a baby in the face? Having a mother that you knew would cover for you may have had something to do with it.

I love my kids to the nth degree, but I can honestly say I would have called the police myself had they committed such a crime.

I would then have watched broken hearted as they were hauled away.

I would then have felt relief that they would not be free to do it again.

I would then spend the rest of my life wondering where I had gone wrong.
