Fox News Anchor Accidentally Chucks Axe at Bystander

During a Flag Day celebration last week, Fox and Friends cohost Pete Hegseth attempted to throw an axe into a bulls-eye several feet away. Rather than hitting the board, the axe flew well over the target, and nearly incapacitated a member of the West Point Hellcats marching band on the other side. While the live feed only captured Hegseth throwing the axe, cell phone footage of its unfortunate destination has been spliced into the news clip.

The man who was struck, Jeff Prosperie, only suffered minor cuts on his wrist, but noted on his Facebook that “It could of been much worse or fatal.” While some have wondered why the marching band was situated behind the target, Prosperie claims that the axe throwing event should have never happened at all. “My leadership told me they were told there would be no ax throwing; I think the anchor person went rogue and decided to throw it,” he also noted that the news anchor had “only thrown it once before in practice for an upcoming segment and they told him to throw it with more force.”

He has since called the incident “obvious negligence” and is thankful to be alive. “When shooting or throwing, always know what is behind your target.” Apparently they neglected to teach that to Hegseth when he served in the National Guard.
