Fort Hood Shooting: 4 Dead and 16 Injured
Some media outlets have named the suspect as Ivan Lopez, 34, although his identity has not been officially confirmed.
A soldier shot dead four colleagues and injured 16 others, some seriously, at the US Army’s Fort Hood base in Texas before killing himself, the military says.

The gunman had served in Iraq and had mental health problems, officials said. A shooting rampage at the same base in 2009 left 13 soldiers dead and 32 wounded, though Lt. General Mark Milley has said that he does not feel this attack was linked to terrorism.
The soldier drove to two buildings on the base and opened fire before he was stopped by military police in an incident that lasted between 15 and 20 minutes. He then shot himself in the head with a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, Gen Milley said. Officials say the weapon had been bought in a local store.
“He was not diagnosed as of today with PTSD. He was undergoing a diagnosis process,” Milley said.”There are reports that he self-reported a traumatic brain injury.”
Milley added that the alleged gunman was married with a family and served a four-month tour of duty in Iraq in 2011. He was not believed to have been wounded in action.
