Former NYC Mayor Bloomberg Wants to Restrict Guns for Minorities

Michael Bloomberg

It seems like the control freaks in our society have a knack for putting up friendly fronts. When it comes time to push for new freedom wrecking policies, they’re quick to tell you that “it’s for the children” or “it’s for your own good.” They claim to be stewards for all mankind, regardless of race, color or creed, but when you follow the money you’ll quickly realize that they’re only stewards for their own wealth and power.

I don’t think anyone fits that description better than the former mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg. Whether he’s restricting the size of your sodas, promoting a horrendous “stop and frisk” policy, or leading a cunning campaign to take away your guns, he is above all else, the king of the nanny state. I wish I could list everything I despise about his actions and beliefs, but I’m afraid this article would turn into a novel (this should give you the rundown of his atrocious ideology).

Like any good soldier in the fight against freedom, he’s quick to disguise his bullying of the common man in a shade of benevolence. He claims to hold the plight of minorities close to his heart, whilst simultaneously telling them that they shouldn’t be allowed to own guns until they’re older than the legal limit for Caucasians.

Yes, you read that correctly. He wants to restrict gun ownership based on racial ethnicity.

Last week, he was discussing a number of issues at the Aspen Institute in Colorado, where he stated that 95 percent of murders are caused by a specific demographic: male, minority, and between the ages of 15 and 25. He then went on to add that “Cities need to get guns out of this group’s hands and keep them alive.”

According to the Aspen Times newspaper that first reported on the summit, he also stated “These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed. They just don’t have any long-term focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger.” I’m curious to find out how a man worth over 36 billion dollars gained such an insight on poor minorities, but who knows? Maybe money makes you psychic.

Admittedly, these statements are somewhat vague. It sounds like he’s saying that municipalities need to do more to reduce gun ownership for a certain demographic, which could include gun buyback policies or cracking down on black market firearms. This could be easily misconstrued as saying that he wants a concerted effort to restrict guns for minorities, because they are minorities (in other words, a very racist statement). However, according to an article on countercurrent news, he took these statements a step further.

Michael Bloomberg is surrounded by private security guards who own and carry guns to protect him. They have been spotted illegally carrying weapons in Washington D.C. The mayor has refused to comment on why he is always surrounded by men with guns if he is so against gun ownership. But make no mistake, former mayor Bloomberg does not have a problem with guns, he has a problem with poor and so-called “minority” communities having the same access, at the same ages, to the firearms that affluent Caucasian communities do.

At first, Bloomberg suggested that young non-Caucasian males should be prevented from owning guns in general, as “an effort to reduce crime and to keep those minority males ‘alive,’” according to The Aspen Times.

Bloomberg even used the old mainstay of racists commenting on so-called minority communities, saying that having a gun is a joke to “these people.”

According to The Aspen Times, Bloomberg covered a number of topics, of which gun ownership was only one. They reported that as Bloomberg went on with his diatribe, he eased back, saying that minorities should only be banned from owning guns until they are 7 years older than their Caucasian neighbors.

For now, we don’t know exactly what he said in this “diatribe”. Hopefully the Aspen Institute’s YouTube page will publish the full interview in the days ahead, so that these statements may be fully dissected. But for now, I think it’s important to point out that the first gun control laws in this country were specifically designed to disarm “free people of color.” If that doesn’t turn progressives off of the whole gun control debate and its statist pushers, then I don’t know what will.
