A 19-year-old Florida State University student by the name of Austin Harrouff, was arrested on Monday night after he allegedly stabbed and killed a married couple in their home. However, this was no ordinary murder, and a reasonable motive for the attack has yet to be found.

When Martin County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, they found Harrouff on top of the dead husband, biting off pieces of the man’s face. The deputies tried to shoot him with a Taser, but it had no effect. Ultimately it took four deputies and a K9 unit to subdue and arrest him. Harrouff was later taken to the hospital for multiple stab wounds.

Inside the house, the deputies also found the body of a woman, who was later found to be the daughter of the former mayor of North Miami Beach, Jeff Mischon. A neighbor who tried to stop the attack was also stabbed by Harrouff. The police are calling the incident a “completely unprovoked and random attack,” and they suspect Harrouff was on drugs.

However, Harrouff was stable before the attack occurred. He was seen with his parents at a restaurant earlier that night, but eventually became agitated and walked away. What transpired before that time and the savage attack isn’t clear.
