Arlington, Texas — A family with a passion for gardening and conscious living was raided by the Arlington SWAT team early Friday morning. All 8 adults present in the house were initially handcuffed at the gunpoint of heavily armed SWAT officers, including the mother of a 22 month old and a two week old baby who was separated from her children during the raid.

Here is their press release: At around seven thirty last Friday morning, inhabitants of The Garden of Eden, a small Intentional Community based on Sustainability, were awakened by a SWAT raid conducted by the City of Arlington for suspicion of being a full fledged marijuana growth and trafficking operation. Ultimately only a single arrest was made based on unrelated outstanding traffic violations, a handful of citations were given for city code violations, and zero drug related violations were found.

The entire operation lasted about 10 hours and involved many dozens of city officials, SWAT team, police officers and code compliance employees, and numerous official vehicles including dozens of police cars and several specialized vehicular equipment that was involved in the “abatement” operation. Witnesses say that there were helicopters and unmanned flying drones circling the property in the days prior to the raid that are presumed to have been a part of the intelligence gathering. The combined expenses for the raid itself and the collection of information leading up to the fruitless raid are estimated in the tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars.

All 8 adults present in the house were initially handcuffed at the gunpoint of heavily armed SWAT officers, including the mother of a 22 month old and a two week old baby who was separated from her children during the raid. The police enforced activity on the day of the raid included mowing the grass, the forcible destruction of both wild and cultivated plants like blackberries, lamb’s quarters and okra, and the removal of other varied materials from around the premises such as pallets, tires and cardboard that the Community members say they had collected for use in sustainability projects. No marijuana or other drugs were found on site and the inhabitants of the premises were all unarmed.

After several hours and many requests from the community members, the City Police Officers finally produced two warrants. The first was a Search Warrant for a suspected marijuana growth and distribution operation purportedly being concealed on the premises. There was also an Inspection & Abatement Warrant for code compliance violations such as tall grass and storage in the yard, an issue that the City of Arlington and The Garden of Eden have been disputing since February of this year. The marijuana warrant was issued based on an unsubstantiated claim by an Arlington City Police Officer of possession of marijuana by one of the community members for which there is no police record. Garden of Eden community members also say they have a series of documents showing that their dispute with the City of Arlington over the code compliance violations had already been addressed and settled.

Landowner Shellie Smith states that she has been requesting a peaceful and honorable resolution since the onset of the dispute in February, requesting the aid of the City Manager Trey Yelverton, Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson and Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck, but has received no response in the matter. Ms. Smith says “the City codes are in violation of our natural and Constitutional rights to live freely while causing damage to no one, and since there is no damaged party, there has been no crime committed on our part.

Rather, the City of Arlington has trespassed and committed robbery against us, amongst other crimes, and will be held accountable in a court of law in due time. We have been targeted by the system because we are showing people how to live without it. We are growing more than just tomatoes here, we are growing the consciousness that will allow people to live freely and sustainably, and the system doesn’t want that to be known.”

  1. Well, we have names of at least three targets here…
    1. City Manager Trey Yelverton
    2. Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson
    3. Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck

Tag ’em and Bag ’em. Time to END this war.

    1. Jean, it IS a war, and it must stop before the cops start to lose. This ramping up of the police state is getting dangerous, and soon it will become dangerous for the mad dogs that perpetrate this madness.

If one watches some of these raids that have been recorded, it’s clear that most of the law enforcement ENJOY participating in the degradation and harassment of we subjects.

  2. It’s funny but I used to respect cops. That is up until they became paramilitary units and began acting like the Gestapo.

  3. A couple of mistakes that this group made, and the biggest was OPSEC failure! Quit talking about your preps, don’t put the spotlight on you UNLESS you want the spotlight on you, and be very very careful with whom you discuss your personal philosophy. Sad, but true-America of today is riddled with liars, thieves, and the politically correct just waiting to exploit someone for their own financial gain. Put up a strong, tall fence around the backyard; if a nosey neighbor questions anything-say you are waiting on the landscaper/state certified specialist in green technology, and keep your plans close to your beating heart.

  4. Sorry People, But the “video” above I have to laugh. Stop! I am just as disappointed in the “system” as anyone.
But! There’s always a but. If the photo of the SWAT Team in the “Video” was taken at the site were this “Happened”. Maybe we should look at the Photo of the SWAT Team. They are wearing light blue training guns, both Glock and AR-15.
I will listen, but it has to be correct and true.
Sorry guys if I rub anyone the wrong way.

  5. Thanks, ‘Merica. You support this terrorism by staying silent (re: keeping your idiotic moron noses stuck in your stupid SpyPhones 24/7).
These terrorists w/badges and special uniforms need to be publicly executed for treason and terrorism. Then, and only then, will this tyranny stop. Publish the pictures, names, and addresses of these terrorists w/badges and special uniforms. Shoot down the spy drones. Make these traitors pay the price for supporting true terrori

      1. Right, that’s what I was thinking.

Until now, all of stories of raids against off-grider’s were in other states. Not only is this in Texas, it’s even in my city. Disturbing.

          1. Exactly the point. It’s a “code violation,” they say. And I have the cashed check to prove it.

          2. You have a code in your city/town that says a landowner can’t park on their own grass? Why?

          3. Yes, it’s illegal to to park on unpaved surface.

Why, you ask? Probably because some people (Mexicans and trailer trash. I’ve lived next to both way back when) would fill their front yards with cars. I get that, but 2 6″ by 6″ squares is a bit excessive.

          4. WOW.
Before you were cited you must have pizzed someone off very much to get this kind of action.

          5. No, I’m a nobody as far as the city, the police and code enforcement goes. They can do it so they did.

I did include a letter explaining the timing of the picture and why it really wasn’t fair notice. In the end I told them to take the check and “shove it up your ass.” So if I wasn’t on their shit list before, I may be now. 🙂

          6. I have a thought to share about property ownership in The United States today.

I do not believe any citizen actually “Owns” property in thse times but they pay a “Purchase” price, get themselves a “Deed” and then are forced to pay “Rent” on the property they are supposed to own in the form of property tasxes for as long as they live in the property. American Citizens do not “Own” property — they “Rent” property and their never-ending property taxes are the “Rent” they pay. So if your local government is your “Real” landlord then you naturally will be expected to play by “Their” rules.

          7. That is EXACTLY what property tax is. If you have to pay property tax, you only lease your property from the real owner: the State.

And if that’s not bad enough, you save all of your life to build a nice retirement home, paid in full, only punished with an annual bill for rent. The nicer your retirement home is the bigger your punishment is.

          8. So what’s the problem with parking your own private car anywhere on your own private property? Did a neighbor complain that you were hurting your own grass?

Did you make the mistake of buying a home with an HOA?

          9. No HOA.

My next-door neighbor (on that side) is cool and doesn’t give a s**t one way the other, so he wouldn’t have called. I’ve never had any issues with any other neighbors and none of them are anal like that anyway.

It’s just a city ordinance, plain and simple. Code enforcement officers routinely tour neighborhoods looking for violations. I was just the lucky winner that day

          10. Obviously just a suck pump trying to justify his job by filling his quota each month, no matter how tiny or nitpicky it might be to write someone up.

  6. This is just yet another example of how our society here in America is geared toward keeping its citizens oppressed. BS laws are passed everyday that turn hundreds of thousands of normal citizens into felons, and as we all know felons cant own firearms in the US. Makes you wonder if this is their form of gun control, If at sometime throughout your life you get charged with a felony, or even misdemeanor in some cases you can never have a gun and if you do, you go to jail. Yet politicians complain about how many people are in prison. And America targets its citizens that provide for themselves and have no need for the government programs that the government tries to offer people to screw them for an X amount of years. I say stay free and people stand up for what this country was built for, your right to live free. Our ancestors fought against an oppressive government for its injustices, why cant we?

  7. Also, have people forgotten about the executive orders that the president can enact during an economic crisis or war. Want to be told where to live, where to work, how many hours to work, have all farms confiscated by the government and food dispersed by rations. All these are laws signed into effect in the 60’s but lovely OBAMA has resigned them in 2013 and 2014 and amended them to add other statutes. Wouldn’t you call what we are in now a economic crisis, or the war on terror even constitutes perfect grounds for the president to envoke those laws. These are troubling times indeed. War on the brink in Syria, Russia being an aggressive nation as usual, and then North Korea also beefing up its troops preparing for something. My advice move somewhere in the mountains. Start planning and stocking up now, its only a matter of time until everything we know comes crashing down

  8. Until and unless this happends to you, do not be of the opinion that they were guilty of anything. Additionally, your private property is not yours anymore according to the government desire to control every aspect of our lives. I feel they have not real right to destroy anything in these raids, but they do because they have the power to do so and. . . We must protest these kind of actions perpetrated on the American citizens, so stand up against this actions and stand w/ our fellows for it to stop or it will only get worse. Remember world history and know they will come for you next!
