Family Dog Attacks Intruder While Owner Is Away

When a Virginia family returned home to find their home eerily splattered with blood, they were rightfully alarmed. Until they realized that the blood was that of an intruder and their dog had protected the home by attacking the thief.

At first, Tristan Murrin and his mother didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary when they walked into their Richmond home on Thursday night. As soon as Murrin saw his beloved dog Oden, a German shepherd, waiting to greet them at the front door, he knew something was wrong. And the scene was something straight out of a slasher movie.

Murrin said that although his German Shepherd is a big dog, this is the first time Oden has been aggressive. “He plays with the kids, the cul-de-sac knows him,” Murrin told the station. “The community loves him, the kids come up to him and want to touch him and play with him.” Police have investigated the scene but so far no arrests have been made.

The family is sharing this gruesome story in hopes of finding the intruder, who Murrin correctly believes likely needed medical attention after the encounter with Oden.

Oden loves kids and his family, but he didn’t seem to like an intruder in the home much. Murrin said he is proud that his dog, who he calls his best friend, protected their home. “I think the dog did its job,” he said. “He knew that someone was not supposed to be in my house and no one was home and he knows that [the intruder] wasn’t supposed to be in there and was doing something that he wasn’t supposed to be doing.”

Murrin shared photos and videos on Facebook that show the aftermath of the attempted break-in. His Facebook post has been shared over 100,000 times.
