‘Face’ of Obamacare Website Claims She Was Bullied, Image Pulled

Not only that, but after spending $600 million on a complete failure of a website, the government didn’t even give this lady — who is not a U.S. citizen by the way — a single dime for plastering her face all over it.

‘Face’ of Obamacare Website Claims She Was Bullied, Image Pulled

In a tearful interview with ABC News, the lady who used to be the ‘face’ on the front page of the Obamacare website at Healthcare.gov discussed how she has been bullied ever since.

After allowing her face to be used on the site, many Americans naturally linked Adriana (last name withheld by ABC News) with Obamacare. So when the reality sunk in that so many people were (and are) getting their insurance canceled or their premiums raised to astronomically high amounts, some took their frustration out on her.

She’s since been dubbed “The Enigmatic Mona Lisa of Health Care” and “glitch girl” among others. According to The Blaze, conservative blogger David Burge tweeted, “Congrats, vapidly smiling Healthcare.gov splash page stock photo girl! You’re now the most despised face on planet Earth.”

Once America’s overall annoyance with Healthcare.gov quickly went from bad to “You’ve got to be freakin’ kidding me, I’m going to get fined if I don’t sign up but my government can’t even make an online calculator that works???”, satire news site The Onion tweaked Adriana’s image below for a story called, “People In Healthcare.gov Stock Photos Now Visibly Panicking”:

Adriana mentioned that she signed a release allowing her photo to be used for Healthcare.gov promotional materials, but she didn’t seem to realize she would become the poster child for Obamacare with her face pasted on the very front page of the site. It has since been taken down and replaced with a faceless graphic.

For a website that reportedly cost up to $600 million to build and still failed worse than this drunk college girl who blew a .341 on a breathalyzer after trying to storm the field at an Illinois-Iowa game, it is ironic to note that the woman didn’t even get paid for the government to use her picture on the website.

That’s right. Zero. Nada. Zip.

American taxpayers already got screwed out of an insane amount of money to build what could arguably be one of the saddest websites ever created in the history of the Internet (and that includes something.com), and yet, the government couldn’t even toss a few measly Federal Reserve notes at the lady whose image was plastered all over it?

So, to add insult to injury, now we just look like we’re the kind of country that bails from a fancy restaurant without leaving a tip after making a huge mess and stealing the silverware.

But that isn’t even the ultimate irony about the epic level of hatred that much of America has shown for the Healthcare.gov exchange.

The ultimate irony is that the woman who was the ‘face’ of Healthcare.gov — a website that represents what many feel is an unconstitutional law (you buy health insurance or the government gets to fine you) — was not even a U.S. citizen. That’s right. She’s from Colombia. (Although she can apply for healthcare on Healthcare.gov under her permanent residency status.)

Our country is so messed up.
