A documentary due to be aired on the 17th anniversary of the TWA flight that crashed minutes after take off from JFK airport is calling for a re-opening of the case in light of new evidence that points to the plane being downed by a missile strike.

Investigators who include a physicist and two air accident investigators reviewed the FAA evidence, including radar images alongside new evidence that was not available at the time to the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board).

The Flight 800 Independent Researchers Organization says that the new evidence points directly at a missile strike on the aircraft and sites the statements of over 200 witnesses that steaks of light from the waterline to the plane were seen in the seconds before the jet exploded and crashed off the coast of New York.

The documentary is to be screened next month.
