Ever Wonder What Toxic Heavy Metals Are Lurking in Your Food?

Our modern world is polluted with thousands of industrial chemicals. When people think of pollution, what most do not consider is how much toxic heavy metals have infiltrated and inundated our air, water, soil and ultimately, our food supply. Even the USDA organic label does not test whether or not these metals are present in the soils before crops are grown or before those crops are designated “certified organic”.

Tests to find out the levels of heavy metals like lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, copper, aluminum, uranium and cesium in our food are very expensive for just one item, let alone to find out what’s in an entire meal (or kitchen). Seeing as corporate food giants are completely unwilling to even label anything in this country (genetically modified organisms are a great example of that) unless they are absolutely literally forced to do so, we have been largely kept in the dark regarding just what kinds of levels of these heavy metals are present in our food supply.

Now all that has changed. The Health Ranger Mike Adams, of NaturalNews.com, has launched his revolutionary Forensic Food Lab, where he has been personally testing a variety of commercial foods off the shelf, including health foods, for levels of all these metals and publishing his results for the public.

In welcoming us to the online face of his lab, Adams says, “As Fukushima radiation makes landfall on California beaches, Natural News begins testing foods for radioactive cesium-137 and other heavy metals.” (No point in waiting around holding our breath for our government’s corporate-owned alphabet agencies to tell us if Fukushima radiation is tainting our food…)

For example, would it surprise you to learn that a container of NOW certified organic Barley Grass Juice powder contains an average of 41,281 parts per billion aluminum, 10,499 ppb copper, 1,082 pppb arsenic, 210 ppb cadmium, 107 ppb lead and 197 ppb cesium? There’s even some uranium in there!

The levels of cadmium in organic raw cacao powder are pretty astonishing, too. Even Kellogg’s Strawberry Delight Frosted Mini Wheats averaged 38 ppb cadmium.

What does this mean? A note explains, “PPB numbers below 20 are generally considered ‘zero’ in the food industry. Lower numbers generally do not have high statistical significance. High numbers generally have higher statistical significance (certainty).”

To give you a good idea, the EPA set a standard for arsenic in drinking water at no more than 10 ppb. These Blue Diamond Almond Nut Thins contained an average of 154 ppb, more than 15 times the limit! Similac Advance Complete Nutrition baby formula averaged 47 ppb arsenic…just what all infants need!

The website breaks down foods and beverages by category and it’s very easy to find your way around. The only thing missing is a key to understanding the levels more fully and exactly how high is too high, etc. — in short, whether or not a food is “good” or “bad”.

Adams explains why:

Unfortunately, legal issues prevent us from making qualitative assessments of foods listed here based on these numbers. In other words, our lawyers told us we should never say whether a particular food is “good” or “bad” based on these numbers. Why is this the case? Because all the world’s so-called “authorities” on health totally disagree on what’s a safe level of toxic elements in foods. The EPA and FDA, for example, wildly disagree. EU restrictions are very tight, but USDA has no restrictions whatsoever. So there is no consensus even among government entities about the safe amount of a toxic element in a food. This is surely due to food industry influence on regulators, of course. They want to keep the true composition of their foods a secret, just as they do with GMOs.

Sad, but true.

At least with this lab, we can get an accurate idea of what we’re dealing with in the way of heavy metals lurking in our food, information which most of us could not have personally afforded to find out otherwise from any other source (because until now there hasn’t been a source like this). A bit more research will show you that, in many cases, even low levels of these metals can be harmful.

Heavy metals have been shown to cause a number of adverse health effects in scientific studies, from Alzheimer’s disease to hyperactivity disorders to metabolic issues to depression and auto-immune problems. These metals also bioaccumulate over time. Considering that ever since the Industrial Revolution, we’ve been living in a time and place where these metals have been made bioavailable — and thus able to pollute our environment, our food and water, and ultimately our bodies — detoxification and chelation strategies to remove these toxins from our bodies is very important.

In America especially, people are being purposefully kept in the dark regarding what is in the food they eat. The Natural News Forensic Food Lab is one more way to arm ourselves with information about what we eat and take back control over our diets and our health.
