DHS Wants to Bring Back Asinine Color Coded Terror Alerts

They did away with the system in 2010, but want to bring it back in response to the mass shooting in Chattanooga.

Ever since 9/11, the Department of Homeland Security has portrayed the War on Terror as a fight against Islamic extremists abroad. In reality, they were always conditioning the American public to be paranoid about groups that they viewed as ‘domestic terrorists’ which they defined as Second Amendment advocates, libertarians, Christians, and homeschoolers, among others.

Now the DHS is beginning to reveal its true colors. They want to revive the silly color coded terror alert system that became the oft criticized staple of America’s post 9/11 paranoia. They did away with the system in 2010, but want to bring it back in response to the mass shooting in Chattanooga. According to DHS secretary Jeh Johnson “I’ve asked our folks to consider whether we should revise that system to accommodate how the terrorism threat has evolved” Johnson then added that There is a new reality. The global terrorist threat has evolved from terrorist-directed to terrorist-inspired attacks.”

In other words, the DHS is using the terror alert system to shift its propaganda away from foreign terrorists, and is redirecting it towards supposed domestic threats (though how they would have prevented the Chattanooga shooting, or any mass shooting for that matter, is beyond me). One can only hope that when their meaningless color coded chart makes its comeback, it will inspire the same widespread ridicule that we saw in the mid 2000’s.
