Lake County Florida Sheriff’s deputies were looking for an attempted murder suspect when they approached the wrong house. With guns drawn they entered through an open door of the residence where 26 year old Andrew Scott was waiting with weapon in hand. Reports indicate that the deputies failed to identify themselves as police officers, which is likely the reason for why Scott had his gun at the ready.
Scott was subsequently shot to death by police in his own doorway.
A spokesperson for the county responded to reporter questions about the shooting:
“The bottom line is if you point a gun at police officers or deputies you’re going to get shot.”
The deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. No charges have been filed against the deputies.
