Debate Summary: Lies, War-mongering, Obfuscation & More Lies

The 2nd Presidential debate has grown to be little more than entertainment for the average viewer, likened to an episode of American Gladiators. People tune in to cheer on “their” candidate, to applaud every jab that each figurehead throws at the other, but few pay attention to the actual policies being discussed.

Syria was mentioned more than 50 times. Aleppo, the most populated city in Syria which has been the focal point of the ongoing Syrian civil war, is now being used as a scapegoat to start a new war, one in which the United States would be involved. Over the past month, there have been a series of aerial bombings in Aleppo, reportedly by the Syrian government or Russian air strikes.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are both attempting to steer the collective consciousness to a new war, no different than Iraq. Policies are being discussed that could bring a nuclear Armageddon, and yet, many viewers seem to miss this one fact. Clinton wants to create a no-fly zone across Syria, which means militarily barring Russian forces from Syrian airspace as “leverage” to bring them to the negotiating table. Summarizing her plan, she said:

Well, the situation in Syria is catastrophic. And every day that goes by, we see the results of the regime by [Syrian President] Assad in partnership with the Iranians on the ground, the Russians in the air, bombarding places, in particular Aleppo, where there are hundreds of thousands of people, probably about 250,000 still left. And there is a determined effort by the Russian air force to destroy Aleppo in order to eliminate the last of the Syrian rebels who are really holding out against the Assad regime.

Russia hasn’t paid any attention to ISIS. They’re interested in keeping Assad in power. So I, when I was secretary of state, advocated and I advocate today a no-fly zone and safe zones. We need some leverage with the Russians, because they are not going to come to the negotiating table for a diplomatic resolution, unless there is some leverage over them. And we have to work more closely with our partners and allies on the ground.

Does Clinton recognize that attempting to control Syrian airspace and using military force as an affront to Russian forces will be construed as a threat? Of course she does!

War is what Clinton wants, and Trump is no different. Trump does not disband from the comments that Clinton made about controlling Syrian airspace; instead he decides to war-monger on two issues instead of one.

Trump drums up a war with ISIS, a creation of the US, which formed after a failed war in Iraq. Trump wants to start it all over again; this time with a boogeyman that might be lurking anywhere in the Middle-East which the political establishment chooses to attack next.

When these so-called candidates tell you that they are seeking your best interest, you would do best to stop listening. They are callously talking about sending your family and children into the next war.
