Clinton to Poor Whites: “We’re Going to Put a Lot of Coal Miners Out of Business”

It seems that if elected, Hillary is going to follow up on Obama’s promise to bankrupt the coal mining industry.

It seems that if elected, Hillary is going to follow-up on Obama’s promise to bankrupt the coal mining industry. During a town hall meeting hosted by CNN on Sunday, Hillary was asked why poor whites, who typically vote Republican, should lend their support to her instead. This is what she said:

You gotta love the lack of enthusiasm in that audience. There’s a good reason for it. This town hall meeting took place in Ohio, which is the 9th largest coal-producing state. And like most coal-producing regions, their coal industry is largely filled with white blue-collar Americans.

These people know the truth. When their coal mining jobs disappear, they aren’t going to be replaced with green jobs. Renewable energy technology simply hasn’t advanced to the point where it can replace coal or gas. If she builds on Obama’s policies and tries to regulate the coal industry out of existence, the cost of energy will go up, and these workers will still be out of a job. What she’s really proposing, is the destruction of economic opportunity in the name of fighting climate change.
