Censorship Hits The Daily Sheeple

A dog I am allowed a picture of

A very interesting thing has just happened. I have been prevented from downloading a perfectly reasonable image of a police dog to use in the republishing of an article.

The photograph from Wikimedia Commons is of a police dog with a police badge on his collar. I wanted to use it as an illustration for the article ‘NY County officials use body parts of dead citizen for police dog training’

Although I can get the image onto my desktop trying to get it on the website produced the following message:

“Sorry this type of file is not permitted for security reasons”

After a little jiggery pokery I got it onto the site only to find when I took a look before hitting publish that the image has been replaced by a white square with a question mark in the center of it. Clicking the question mark brings up the same message.

I searched other sites to see if they have the story, the image appears on another website, Intellihub to be precise, and is available from a Google free images search page but at this point The Daily Sheeple is for some reason, not allowed to publish it…or I am not allowed to publish it, I am not sure which, and for that reason I will be contacting other Sheeple editors to see if they can get the image onto the site without issue.

With the spate of arrests and cautions for photographing the police it makes you wonder if the tetchiness of law enforcement regarding photographs has extended to police dogs.

Regardless of the issue being me or Sheeple it is blatant censorship, and I want to know why. I’ll update you if I find out.
