I have to admit, I didn’t know former Texas Governor Rick Perry was even running for president in 2016 — until he announced he was dropping out of the race.

Via USA Today:

“We have a tremendous field – the best in a generation – so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands,’’ Perry will say in prepared remarks to the Eagle Forum provided by his campaign.  “As long as we listen to the grassroots, the cause of conservatism will be too.”

Great. That means there are only 16 candidates left in the Republican field, and since Trump is running as a ringer for Hillary and Jeb, the majority of the nation couldn’t name all 16 of those candidates if you paid them to.

Perry has a pretty sad legacy for a presidential candidate though. USA Today continued with:

His greatest challenge was convincing primary voters that he was no longer the candidate who, in a November 2011 debate, forgot the name of one of the three federal agencies he wanted to eliminate as president.

Ouch. Wow. Fail.
