Biden: We Should Start a ‘Physical Revolution’ to Deal With Republicans

Published on

On Monday, 2020 Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden suggested that it may be a good idea to use violence against Republicans by starting a “Physical Revolution.

While at the Moral Action Congress of the Poor People’s Campaign in Washington, D.C., Biden was being asked by MSNBC’s Joy Reid how Biden would get past a majority Republican Senate set to kill anything Biden wants.

“How would you get past either a majority Republican Senate in which Mitch McConnell was determined to kill all of these ideas or even a Mitch McConnell in the minority who repeated the consistent filibustering when you were vice president and anything that came from the Obama-Biden administration Mitch McConnell considered dead on arrival?” Reid asked Biden.

At first, Biden’s response was pretty reasonable.

“Joy, I know you’re one of the ones who thinks it’s naive to think we have to work together,” Biden said while looking Ried directly in the eye. “The fact of the matter is if we can’t get a consensus, nothing happens except the abuse of power by the executive.”

Biden then noted that the second option was a “brass knuckle fight.”

“If you start off with the notion that there’s nothing you can do, then why don’t you go home then, man?” said Biden. “Or let’s start a real physical revolution if you’re talking about it. Because we have to be able to change what we’re doing in our system.”

It is possible that Biden was trying to convince his fellow Democrats that working together was the only way to make progress, but telling an already violent left to “start a real physical revolution” a very, very dangerous precedent. One that could easily result in additional violence in the streets.
