Crenshaw: It ‘Defies Logic’ To Not Want Voter ID

On Wednesday, Bernie Sanders called President Trump a “coward” in response to a statement Trump made in regards to Voter ID playing a “very strong part” in Election Security.

President Trump said, “No debate on Election Security should go forward without first agreeing that Voter ID (Identification) must play a very strong part in any final agreement. Without Voter ID, it is all so meaningless!”

Upon seeing President Trump’s tweet, Bernie Sanders replied, “Donald Trump can’t win an election based on his ideas so he has to suppress the vote to win.”

“What a coward,” he added.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw fired back at Bernie for insinuating that voter ID leads to voter supression. Crenshaw said, “The idea that requiring an ID is somehow voter suppression is truly one of the strangest falsehoods ever perpetuated by the Democratic Party.”

“It defies logic for any normal American who uses their ID. Every. Single. Day,” he declared.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton has a whole host of reasons why voter ID is needed.

Democrat-controlled states are starting to offer illegal aliens driver’s licenses in increasing numbers, perhaps anticipating that voter ID will become law and that non-citizens will be able to vote using these state-issued drivers licenses as a form of ID to be able to vote.

Critics of Voter ID laws say that it “suppresses” the votes of ‘people of color’ because they are less likely to have ID or to be able to obtain ID. However, many people of color are insulted by the implication that they are unable to obtain ID or that they use it in everyday life.

A compromise suggestion has been offered of “investing’ in voter ID that you can obtain at the time you first register. If you lose or misplace it then there would be a small fee to replace it so that you can vote in the next election. Other suggestions are using a fingerprint system similar to other countries, where you sign your ballet with a fingerprint. Although this only stops people from voting more than once and does nothing to combat non-citizens voting.
