Asylum Seeker Threatens to Throw Infant At Greek Police Officer

Tempers flared on Thursday at the Greek Port of Piraeus, where asylum seekers were protesting a plan to send them to a recently built refugee camp, instead of letting them move on to Western Europe. One of the migrants was seen smashing up a car, before he decided on a more drastic course of action. He snatched a baby away from its mother, and held it above his head in a threatening gesture towards a Greek police officer. Fortunately the baby was unharmed, and was quickly returned to its mother.

This isn’t the first time that refugees in Greece have stooped to these desperate tactics. In March, refugees protested Macedonia’s border restrictions by placing their children on railroad tracks, and last week a migrant threatened to throw himself and his family into the sea if they were sent to Turkey.
