AR1785 Visible With The Naked Eye

Although it’s one of the most massive sunspots of cycle 24, and despite the fact that it has an unstable magnetic field, AR1785 has not erupted…thankfully.

NOAA is keeping the estimate of an M-Class flare at 55% for the third day running, and of an X-Class flare at 10% over the next 24 hours.

The sunspot number today is 98 and there are no visible coronal holes on the Earth side of the Sun.

“Summer has arrived in the UK and there have been some fantastic sunsets,” says Lawrence. “This one was a beauty with the current crop of sunspots in view.”
