Todays sunspot number is 113. Sunspot AR1748 which is square on to Earth at this point in its journey across the nearside of the Sun, still has the delta class magnetic field that enable it to produce both M and X-Class flares. NOAA estimate there is a 65% chance of an M-Class flare during the next 24 hours and a 25% chance of an X-Class during the same period.

There is a coronal hole low down on the suns eastern side and the solar winds from the hole are predicted to reach Earth on 23-24th May.

A new sunspot, currently on the far side of the Sun and at this point not numbered is crackling with energy and has already thrown off an M1 flare. It will rotate onto the Suns far eastern side over the next few days. At that point scientists will assess and number it.
