Another School Threat Averted: More Dangerous Artwork Detected

And this ninja?  Horrifying, no?

This Star Wars character is just…chilling.

Surely the student who drew these pictures is a threat to others and should be expelled from school immediately.

Thankfully, the powers-that-be at the school this student attends are paying attention, and have dealt with this potentially dangerous situation.

The headmaster of the school finds the drawings “highly disturbing” – so disturbing, in fact, that he has threatened to expel the 8-year-old child who drew them.

The child’s parents beat the headmaster to it and pulled their sons out of Scottsdale Country Day School.

Jeff, the child’s father, shared his thoughts with CBS5 news in AZ:

“In this situation, it’s actually the principal of the school who bullied the parents – so much that we couldn’t even be safe in that environment.”

“I think we really send our children the wrong message when we show that, as adults, we’re so afraid of our shadow that an innocent picture – that any 8-year-old might’ve drawn – is cause for this kind of concern,” said Jeff.

The headmaster also expressed concern over the boy’s journal. He highlighted words and sections he found violent and unacceptable. One entry was about escaping a killer zombie at a haunted school:

“I’d open the window, but, stand back quickly. Booby-trapped. Shoot the gadget – a rope gun – I’d swing across without getting hit.”

Other journal entries were about saving the earth, protecting humanity, and being able to stop atom bombs and bullets.

The boy’s father said the the headmaster told him he couldn’t guarantee the safety of other students with his son around.

“I don’t understand how somebody can say that about an 8-year-old that has no history of violence, no history of making threats – nothing at all,” Jeff said.

We should all be thankful for the vigilance of this headmaster and other school administrators who keep a watchful eye out for potentially threatening artwork.  Just a few weeks ago, a middle school in South Carolina had a brush with a bomb drawing.  Thankfully, that crisis was also averted due to the swift action of school administrators.

Things are getting crazy out there, folks.
