And the Most Ironic Nominee for This Year’s Nobel Peace Prize Is…..

Remember how appalled we all were in 2009 when Barack Drone-the-Children Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize? Or when Al Gore won in 2007 for his Agenda-21-pushing global warming fantasy flick? One of the nominees on this year’s list is just as ridiculous.

This, my friends, is irony, not satire.

Remember how appalled we all were in 2009 when Barack ‘Drone-the-Children’ Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”? Or when Al Gore won in 2007 for his Agenda-21-pushing global warming fantasy flick?

It’s interesting to recall how Russia strongly denounced Obama’s Peace Prize, because one of the nominees on this year’s list is just as ridiculous.

Nothing says, “Nominate me for an honor for my work towards world peace” like invading a small Eastern European country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, of recent storming-the-Ukraine fame, is on the short list for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Ummm…shouldn’t the Peace Prize winner allegedly be working towards some kind of…ummm..I dunno…OPPOSITE OF WAR or something? Most of the recent winners have made an absolute mockery of the institution. Who’s next? Hillary Clinton for her tireless efforts in Benghazi?

Putin – you know, the guy who harshly oppresses his own people. The one who recently helped foster in laws shoving homosexuality firmly back into the closet. The former Cold War KGB operative. The merciless crusher of free speech and criticism. You can learn more about Putin’s brutal regime HERE

President Putin is currently rumored to be planning to crush the ailing US economy by destroying the stock market. Mac Slavo of SHTFplan writes:

Make no mistake. Vladimir Putin strives to make Russia a global super power. China wants the same. In order for that to happen the United States of America must be crushed, and that starts with destroying our economy. And if that means a temporary destruction of global equity markets then that’s what Russia and China will do. Unlike President Obama, who bases his decisions on political surveys and half baked short-term platitudes, these nations operate with stratagems spanning decades.

For all we know, it was Putin himself who orchestrated the Ukranian coup. He’s a former KGB operative, a brilliant strategist and he comes from the ‘old school’ of Russian thought. Every move is carefully calculated and executed. While President Obama plays checkers, Putin is executing a Réti Maneuver designed to confuse and frustrate his opponent while leaving multiple pathways for the fait accompli. (source)

Putin joins NSA leaker Edward Snowden and Pope Francis on the list of nominees for this year.

Many of the other nominees are not as well known, but their achievements are notable and, well, peace-worthy which in a rational world would be the whole point of the Nobel Peace Prize:

— Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teen who was shot by the Taliban because of her outspoken support for the education of girls. She was a nominee last year as well.

— Chelsea Manning, formerly known as Bradley Manning. The Army private is now serving a 35-year prison sentence for leaking the largest amount of classified information in U.S. history.

— Novaya Gazeta, a newspaper that PRIO notes was “set up in 1993 at the initiative of Mikhail Gorbachev, who devoted part of his Nobel Peace Prize money for the purpose. The newspaper has since experienced the killings of several of its journalists. Its website has been exposed to numerous cyberattacks.”

— Denis Mukwege, a doctor who for more than a decade “has given medical treatment to survivors of sexual violence. In 1999 he founded the Panzi Hospital in Bakuvu, DR Congo.” (source)

The first Nobel Peace Prize was awarded in 1901. The winner receives 8 million Swedish crowns ($1.24 million) in cash and a nifty medal.
