Amazing Film Of M3.5 Solar Flare ‘As it Happened’

The Sun threw out an M-class 3.5 flare just before midnight last night. No CME was ejected, but there was a brief wave of ionization on the Pacific side of the planet. The sunspot that erupted is believed to be AR 1931, which is just rotating onto the eastern limb.

Todays sunspot number is 138. NOAA estimate the chance of further M-class flares at 30% over the next 24 hours.
