Alabama Man Suspected Of Shooting Multiple Officers In Custody, Manhunt Ends
An Alabama man suspected of shooting multiple officers at a trailer park is in custody following a manhunt, police confirmed Monday.
Grady Wayne Wilkes, 29, is accused of shooting at officers after they responded to a domestic disturbance at the trailer park five miles away from Auburn University Sunday night in Alabama, CBS reported.
One officer died Sunday night and two others officers were in serious condition. One is expected to be released Monday, according to CBS 42.
Domestic calls are considered “the most dangerous kinds of calls” as they can be unpredictable, Auburn police said at a press conference Monday.
“This is the worst day of my time here,” Auburn Police Chief Paul Register said at the conference. “Words cannot express the loss for this family and our family and this community. We’re going to do everything we can to bring it to a close.”
The Auburn University Alert Center said police reported the suspect was in custody just before 8 a.m. Monday.
