The International Longshore and Warehouse Union officially decided to cut ties with AFL-CIO due to AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka’s support for Obamacare. On Labor Day, Trumka received word that his union lost 40,000 members.

The ILWU International President Robert McEllreath wrote a letter to Trumka in which he expressed his disappointment in him for “going along to get along.”

“It is with regret but resolve that we have come to the point where the International Longshore and Warehouse Union must cut formal ties with the AFL-CIO,” McEllreath wrote.

However, it wasn’t just support for Obamacare, but a failure to get a full socialist government run single-payer healthcare system for its members that caused McEllreath to disassociate with AFL-CIO.

“President Obama ran on a platform that he would not tax medical plans and at the 2009 AFL-CIO convention, you stated that Labor would not stand for a tax on our benefits,” the letter states. “The ILWU has also become increasingly frustrated with the Federation’s moderate, overly compromising policy positions on such important matters as immigration, labor law reform, healthcare reform, and international labor issues.”

“We feel the Federation has done a great disservice to the labor movement and all working people by going along to get along,” McEllrath wrote.

In other words, Trumka was just not socialist enough for McEllreath and the ILWU. If McEllreath was a bit more patient, he would know that Senator Harry Reid has already spilled the beans on the single-payer system and that the current Obamacare trainwreck is merely a stepping stone to complete collapse…..I mean, a single-payer system.

Interestingly enough, at the same time the members were exiting the AFL-CIO, along with their dues, Trumka decided to hold a press conference and say he wasn’t really angry, but somebody needs to fix the law, and fast!

I’ll tell you, I just don’t have any sympathy for these guys, the unions or those in them. When it comes to this issue here, they are merely pushing for more government control of their lives at our expense. I say let the unions die a quick death alongside Obamacare.
