James Gray being arrested by the Royal Dutch Border Police

A man has now been banned from flying on KLM Dutch Royal Airlines for five years following an incident where he tried to open an airplane door at 30,000 feet on a flight from Edinburgh to Amsterdam.

He apparently mistook the plane’s door for the restroom. How that is possible to even do was not explained.

“I tried to explain it was a simple mistake,” passenger James Gray told the Sunday Post. “It was a misunderstanding. The police came and arrested me. They weren’t too friendly.”

He says he only touched the handle and swears he wouldn’t open a plane door on purpose.

He did add, “I realize the danger of that sort of thing.”

We would hope most people flying on planes would realize the danger of that sort of thing.

James was arrested at as soon as his plane arrived at Schiphol Airport. He was detained overnight and fined £434 (about $658). He had to borrow money from a friend to get a ticket to be able to fly home on another airline.

This is the dumbest thing in the news since that guy who tried to kill a spider on his gas tank with a lighter while filling up at a gas station.
