5 Reasons You Should Stock Up On Survival Food In The Next 5 Months

Preparing for a disaster can be a love/hate relationship. Stocking up on survival food should be the #1 thing on your list of “stuff to do”. By establishing a budget and sticking to the plan, you can prepare for some, if not all of the situations listed below.

1. Current mindsets

When conducting research for this article, I made an odd discovery: Everyone is talking about “survival food”, and “emergency food” are trending high in the keyword and search engines across the internet. Why? Who knows? Look at some of the results of a keyword search. It’s enough to raise your eyebrows at this point in time.

Survival Food Emergency Food
Recent discussions many everybody
Exact search 9,900 6,600
Competition very high very high
Trend steady steady

This falls into the category of the “herd” mentality. However, if an idea is on everyone’s mind – there may be something that is bubbling under the surface that can’t be explained, but can be prepared for.

2. Failing economy.

It is no secret that the American economy is dropping as fast as President Obama’s approval numbers. And in some situations – even faster.

The NASDAQ is down 4,000 points since the start of the year. Actual food prices have increased by 19% in the past four months. This economy will not get better until people start working. However, layoffs continue and let’s face it. You may be next. Having a supply of survival food will help meet your families needs should it happen.

3. Disasters

Eeny, meeny, miny, moetell me which way the wind will blow!” Pick any kind of disaster that has happened in your area in the past 100 years, and that’s the one to prep for. Do you have earthquakes? Then check out the Earthquake kit.Tornado? This THIS kit. Blackouts? Then look at THIS kit.

Kits are an addition to survival food. They help the IMMEDIATE situation, while food is what it takes on the long haul. It may take days, weeks, or months for normalcy to return. An earthquake in the Seattle area could take as much as 18 months for the roads to be pre-earthquake quality.

4. Camping

Camping is a rough adventure, made peaceful by the change of pace and beautiful scenery. But, lurking behind every dream of camping – is what to eat. Whether eggs and bacon, or hotdogs and burgers over the campfire – food has to be accounted for. And mom is usually the one who has to make a menu, do the shopping, and prepare the meals.

Using your survival food as a test for when you “need it most” makes sense. The small packets of food will give you practice on how to make the food, and sample it under almost ideal conditions. Practice makes perfect in almost all situations.

5. Bad luck

Sometimes you just can’t win. Sometimes you hit all the red lights on your way to work or to an appointment. And sometimes, very rarely (thankfully), we hit the trifecta of luck and your family’s main breadwinner loses their job, and a blizzard/earthquake/tornado strikes – all on the same day or same week. It can happen, and it may happen to you.

Survival Food and You

Preparing is a state of mind, and so is dealing with disaster. Meeting the problem head on is the best way to survive what may happen. Denial will kill you and your family. Planning for the above is just ONE way of getting ready for disaster. What you do is entirely up to you, but stocking up on food should be the first on your list.
