12 people including a three year old child have been shot in an incident in Chicago.

A basketball court in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago’s southwest side has been cordoned off by police since the incident at approximately 10:15pm EST Thursday night.

Julian Harris, uncle of the injured 3 year old said:

“They hit the light pole next to me, but I ducked down and ran into the house,” he said. “They’ve been coming round here looking for people to shoot every night, just gang-banging stuff. It’s what they do.” (source)

Chicago has become the murder capital of America with over 500 reported homicides last year.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
