We’re There: Americans Critical of Government Can Lose Gun Rights Due to Executive Order

Americans critical of government could have their Second Amendment rights restricted if psychologists diagnose them with “Oppositional Defiant Disorder” or a similar diagnosis as a result of Obama’s new gun control executive action.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: Fifth Edition (DSM-5), which the American Psychiatric Association uses for psychiatric diagnosis, defines “oppositional defiant disorder” as a “recurrent pattern of negativistic, defiant, disobedient, and hostile behavior toward authority figures” which typically begins at a young age but can survive into adulthood.

“[Adults with Oppositional Defiant Disorder] feel misunderstood and disliked, hemmed in and pushed around,” according to Russell Barkley, Ph.D.. “Some feel like mavericks or rebels.”

In other words, an Obama-supporting psychologist could potentially diagnose conservatives and libertarians with “Oppositional Defiant Disorder” due to their criticism of authority, particularly the federal government, and then report them to the FBI as too “mentally unfit” to purchase a gun.

But even scarier, the newest version of the DSM-5 is so broad that almost every form of human behavior could be considered some type of mental illness.

In fact, over the past 50 years, the number of mental illnesses defined by sequential editions of the DSM have grown from 130 to over 350.

The rise in children diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), for example, is mainly due to the newest DSM editions reclassifying certain, normal behaviors as “symptoms.”

“If 7-year-old Mozart tried composing his concertos today, he might be diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and medicated into barren normality,” George F. Will with the Washington Post lamented.

And looking back at the Soviet Union, the communist regime routinely diagnosed those critical of the government as “mentally ill.”

“People who didn’t accept the beliefs of the Communist Party developed a ‘new type’ of schizophrenia,” the popular blog site The Mind Unleased pointed out. “They suffered from the ‘delusion’ of believing communism was wrong.”

“They were isolated, forcefully medicated, and put through repressive ‘therapy’ to bring them back to sanity.”

And Obama’s latest gun control executive order is heading in the same direction.

      Kindly name a single infringement of the thousands that have been applied to the right that have been struck down in toto by any court.
      Remember that the second amendment does not provide or protect a right of any kind. It only prohibits the Congress from infringing the right, not the rest of the federal government.

        Where in the Constitution Article II section 1 through 4 does it give the Executive Branch the authority to legislate in any way or create regulations?
        The Constitution gives only the Congress the authority to create law.
        Only laws that are passed through the formal legislative process have the full force of law as specified in Article 1 Section 7 Clause 2:
        “Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States, etc”
        If that proceedure is not followed, no law has been created.
        The Constitution does not give Congress the authority to delegate legislative power to anyone therefore it cannot and the Constitution does not give the Executive or Judicial branches the authority to usurp that power.

        The rest of the federal government doesn’t have the power to infringe on anything. But regardless, the constitution, specifically the bill of rights is a list of the rights we the people have. And nobody can violate those rights. Not the congress or the president or the supreme court or anybody. Much of the constitution is designed to limit the government, but it isn’t specific to congress.
        I don’t know where you learned about the constitution, but you should ask for your money back.

      The perpetual renewed State of Emergency provides for the process’ we were taught in civic’s class and our Constitution to circumvented; as we are in a quasi state of Martial Law.

        Without showing the target, the presumption would be that there is no sight picture, and the firearm is not on such.

        It doesn’t have to be over exaggerated to prevent accidental shootings, just keeps it from inadvertently pressing on the trigger. There are hundreds of people killed every year because they didn’t keep their finger off the trigger when they didn’t have a sight picture of what they shot, accidently.
        Can we assume that you aren’t safe to be around when you have a gun in your hand?

      I can answer this for you. It’s simple, a liberal took the picture and the person choosing the picture didn’t know that was there as he/she wanted the flag in the picture with the gun. Most photos are “stock” photos due to copyrights.

        The American flag can’t be lawfully copywritten.
        Most ‘stock’ photos are Photoshopped mattes, assembled from clip art, which is generally not copywritten, since collecting the royalties is much harder than selling the clip art files.

      Since psychologists have access to very limited therapeutic modalities, why would anyone go to one? Since they don’t have licenses to practice medicine, they should avoid the appearance that they can.

Obama has captured Congress despite the voters putting in GOP majority but that has proven to be worthless. Government gets control of “health care”, plus control of mental health parameters and definitions and has an immediate “back door” to circumvent the 2nd Amendment.
