“They’re good people. I don’t want to hurt them”: Did Trump Just Walk Back His Promise to Prosecute Hillary?

Because that’s what it sounds like… and in the first week after being elected, too.

In his first major interview since winning the election, Donald Trump sat down with CBS reporter Lesley Stahl.

Not only did Trump gracefully discuss Hillary’s concession phone call, he switched his tone on the Clintons 180 degrees.

Trump told Stahl Hillary’s concession chat was “lovely” and that, “she couldn’t have been nicer. She just said, ‘Congratulations, Donald, well done,’ and I said, ‘I want to thank you very much. You were a great competitor.’”

Then regarding the woman he spent months on the campaign trail referring to as “Crooked Hillary,” Trump added: “She is very strong and very smart.”

Bill apparently called Trump to congratulate him as well, to which Trump said, “He was very, very, really, very nice.”

Worse, apparently Trump may even consider taking advice from the Clintons, telling Stahl, “I mean, this is a very talented family. Certainly, I would certainly think about that.”

But I thought she was crooked? Why would anyone deliberately take advice from a crooked person?

Then again, after his first official meeting with President Obama, Trump told reporters multiple times that Obama is a “very good man” and has already said he will seek Obama’s counsel in the future as well… when just a few weeks ago on the campaign trail, he swore that Obama is the worst president in U.S. History.

Stahl pressed Trump on whether or not he was going to appoint the special prosecutor to investigate Hillary as he said he would during the second debate, a comment that was easily one of the most dramatic moments of the entire election season.

Trump’s response? At first he tried to change the subject:

Donald Trump: “Well, I’ll tell you what I’m going to do, I’m going to think about it. Um, I feel that I want to focus on jobs, I want to focus on healthcare, I want to focus on the border and immigration and doing a really great immigration bill. We want to have a great immigration bill. And I want to focus on all of these other things that we’ve been talking a  bout.”

But Stahl pressed him directly:

Lesley Stahl: “You called her ‘crooked Hillary,’ said you wanted to get in jail, your people in your audiences kept saying, ‘Lock em’ up.'”

Donald Trump: “Yeah. She did —”

Lesley Stahl: “Do you  —”

Donald Trump: “She did some bad things, I mean she did some bad things —”

Lesley Stahl: “I know, but a special prosecutor? You think you might…”

To which he finally said:

Donald Trump: “I don’t want to hurt them. I don’t want to hurt them. They’re, they’re good people. I don’t want to hurt them. And I will give you a very, very good and definitive answer the next time we do 60 Minutes together.”

…Yeah.

Trump said, “I don’t want to hurt them,” not once, not twice, but three times. He also said the Clintons are “good people” and in other parts of the interview referred to them as talented, very very very nice, strong, and smart… exactly the same sentiments he had about the Clintons up until just before he chose to run for president.

And it’s only been a week since the election. He isn’t even inaugurated yet.

Stahl made it a point to point out, “What we discovered in Mr. Trump’s first television interview as president-elect, was that some of his signature issues at the heart of his campaign were not meant to be taken literally, but as opening bids for negotiation…”

But all those Trump supporters chanting “lock her up” did take those promises literally…

Again, it’s only been a week but as far as a special prosecutor “locking up” Hillary under President Trump, why would the guy who says he doesn’t want to hurt her and who thinks she’s smart and strong and “good people” from a “talented family” want to lock her up?

  • Why not? They all work for the same people.

One explanation is he doesn’t want Owebummerz pardoning her

    • Lewie Paine

She hasn’t been convicted of anything. There’s nothing to grant pardon for.

      • Smarty

AND, he/she/it has to apply for a pardon, which IT hasn’t done yet because IT hasn’t been convicted.

        • Phil_Ossifer

No, on both counts. A president can pardon someone on his/her own initiative, and a pardon can be issued for unspecified offenses. A person doesn’t have to be convicted in order to be pardoned. See Presidential Proclamation 4311, Gerald Ford’s pardon of Richard Nixon.

      • James Wood

R u blind, she is guilty as sin.

        • James Wood

Btw, I am on no side but that of truth. It seems the US is fascist either way you look at it. From both sides, both Republican and Democrat. Political Correctness has just come through the back door. Cultural Marxism is the result. And the worst part of it is Fascism. So, there you have it. My questions to the democrats would be why the fuss? Where have you been for eight long years, while our police where further militarized, and police shootings where on the rise, with the loss of thousands of jobs while the banks steal your money, and while the increase in food and housing went far beyond so manys reach leading to a staggering number people in destitute and left homeless? Where have you been America?

        • Lewie Paine

I certainly did not say she was not guilty of crimes against humanity. She was very much responsible for the war of aggression in Libya. I said she has not been convicted and personally I’m convinced she will not be convicted as wars of aggression are not waged by one person. The entire US government would need to be prosecuted and that’s not going to happen.

I have simply started just hitting the ones that might have some things worth gleaming. I do not buy the opposing sides, except at a local (DC Minion) level. But this article does show his ties to the crime cabal occupying Palestine. They are going to keep pumping out BS, and the sheep will continue grazing on it. I might point out hypocrisy, outright BS and lies here or there, but i am now devoted to Gamma. One of the reasons i resigned, i wanted to do something to fight the evil. After more than two years, i will tell you that the Southern heritage organizations are social organizations, they do not have a clue how to fight the evil. I tried to explain that we can take out some of these politicians administratively. You walk in their court, most times you are going to lose, because it is their system, and they are corrupt, the rule of law means nothing to them. But each public official has to post a bond, just like a guy getting out of the pokey. This is so if they wrong or damage someone violating their duties, that the damaged person can collet monetary relief. Politician takes down a monument, go through his or her actions with a fine tooth comb, you are going to find where they violated procedure, committed criminal fraud, because that is what they do. Take that proof of the violation, go after their bond. No bond, they can not hold a public office. Start taking these scum out, they going to back up. Be easy to do and you are not spending hundreds of thousand on lawyers, who took an oath to the private club, Bar Association, before they took the oath of office, and their 1st allegiance is to the bar and the court, not you. Then you have people marching in parades, saying they are honoring their Confederate ancestors, while they go to a Puritan/zionist church, and cheer the same military which raped and murdered their GG grandmother while their GG grandpa spent four years starving, cold, overheated, shot at, wounded, sick fighting the same evil they serve. Came to the point where i think their Confederate Ancestors wish they would not dishonor their memory by putting their Puritan/zionist ass in a uniform that their ancestor held dear. Then talked to people who would be involved if their were to be a secession. Pointed out some things and planning that needed to be in place, where is your financing coming from if you do it? Are you going to owned by the fiancee, Are you going to have in place a policy to keep military hardware in State. How are you going to move the occupying troops out? They don’t even understand a quarter what would need to be done. Gamma, don’t want none of these idiots trying to involve me in crap they are not going to try to win. I was already cannon fodder for the zionist asses once, don’t plan on playing their game again. I assure you that most people out there are so ignorant of reality, drugged down, or ignorant by choice. Told my brother the other day, i had perfected a method of making goat butter without using a cream separator, have one, but a bit much to set up for one milk goat. He said, you know, you get you a few acres, take your goats, dog and women and get out of dodge, you will do alright. I assured him that i had come to a similar opinion.

  • Meg

If I were him I would probably say similar things until Jan.20. If he says he’s going to investigate her, Obama will just pardon her and it will inflame the left even more. Just play nice and safe until we get into the Oval.

    • firstresponder

That’s the hope; and eventually we’ll see the reality. Trump might turn out to be just another skillful liar, like Obama.

  • MaHaBone

Was Trump a false victory based on lies and manipulation? Is this verse the same as the last?

Do laws matter Donald? Do lives matter? Are the Clintons lives more important and valuable than the people who voted for you? Do you think criminal corruption and racketeering are victimless crimes?

“Drain the Swamp” you promised. Drain the swamp in Racine County and Kenosha County, Wisconsin – the backyard of Paul Ryan and Reince Preibus – before it is too late and more lives are destroyed. Or when the people rise up to do the job you were not man enough to do, when the swamp is drained you will be covered in algae.

The truth is not going away Donald. Do what you promised and drain the swamp, and stop kowtowing to criminals who have abused their power and ruined the rule of law and the lives of others. What happened to Seth Rich, Donald?

Faith in the FBI, DOJ and now Donald Trump is lost. Will they ever regain it and restore the rule of law to America? We know the truth, God knows the truth, and we are waiting for you to do your job and uphold the oath you took.

  • Frank Lobe

    They are not good people!

  • Helluva3ngineer

Keep in mind, as someone in a leadership position he was likely telling people what they wanted to hear. I honestly don’t think he will prosecute her. If I were him I would nail all of her associates to a wall in a way that directly implicates her and ruins her legacy. She won’t live much longer with her terminal illnesses.

    • Rick E.

True, engineer! I agree, I do not think that he will prosecute her, and I hope that she does succumb to whatever it is that ails her. She deserves whatever pain that she can endure.

    • Phil_Ossifer

It could also be that he was manipulating the 60 Minutes people the same way the media tried to manipulate him during the campaign. They lied about him so he’s returning the favor. Hopefully Trump’s new AG and new FBI director will see to it that the Hildabeast and her criminal enterprise(s) get what’s coming to them.

  • ExecutorOffice

Maybe he wishes to remain alive for awhile

    • Rick E.

      Good point! But still…….

  • Mike

He may be just saying that because ohitler wants to pardon her.

  • Rick E.

NO, they’re horrible people that are simply criminals and leches! They should hang for their crimes like any other contract murderers and war criminals!
    F this crap!

  • Cynical Bastard

Meh. He isn’t going to do anything he said. They’re all in bed together. Anyone who thinks different has been fooled… and it ain’t hard to fool fool’s.

  • Al Mather

Surprised? A few years ago he had nothing but praise for Hillary… Thought Bill Clinton was the best recent President…. Donated to her campaign… Thought she was a great Senator and the best re ent Sec. of State…
. He only flipped to “crooked Hillary” To get the reaction he wanted, from his suckers.whipping up the “anti” Hillary vote.

  • breakawaymotorsports .

7 F-in days after the election..cut the guy some SLACK! He beat the beast even with her cheating..let him have some glory! People are so fickle… makes me sick.

    • davee

People are fickle, because they’ve been lied to by every politician as far back as most can remember.

  • Ed

When Trump said the Clintons were ‘good people’; he left out two salient words: “Good FOR NOTHING people”.
To slippery to catch thus far, but I’m ever so hopeful that their time will come soon.
After all, every dog will have their day.

  • Gil G

Trump was putting on act during the election process? Shock and horror!

    • I just hope you’re not implying Hillary was genuine in even the slightest. What we just witnessed was a WWE election RAW main event! They just may have actually consulted Vince McMahon!

If you’re in need of an executive that can efficiently exploit the executive go for one that’s known, trusted, and knows how to play ball, no?

I don’t care if he’s fake, though, I’m still very glad he won because what he represents is real and it will turn on him if he betrays the people who have entrusted him and they are watching closely.

      • OldeSoul

He will most definitely betray the people who trusted him because they were fools to trust him in the first place- that’s how narcissist megalomaniacs think. And that’s why he thinks the Clintons are Good People; they’re cut from the same cloth he is. I’m sure they’ll all get together for a Pizza Party and have a good laugh. Meanwhile we get Bolton, Dimon, Palin, Guilliani, Gingrich and assorted other swamp critters. He forgot to mention that Drain the Swamp meant going around and collecting up all the old, put-out-to-pasture water moccasins and put them back to work. Oh the irony.

        • I know he’ll betray them but will they admit it to themselves is what I am waiting to see.

          • OldeSoul

No they won’t… because if someone voted for either of these two noxious candidates they are still captives of the mindset of needing to be ruled by someone else. If a person puts aside that idea and leads themselves, they can never be betrayed.

          • ahuxley

I’ve seen your comments quite often and liked them all.
Question: How did you create the backwards “R” in your moniker…?

          • It’s just the use of special characters.

          • ahuxley

            Thanks…

          • You’re welcome! If you’re using windows, hit the windows key and type: “char” – without the quotes and hit enter

          • ahuxley

            Awesome.
I’m a bit of a techno-oaf, and it would have taken me the better part of a week to figure that out.
Thanks for not leaving me in the lurch.
            See you around…

  • Smarty

Our bitch is caving in already while he’s still warm…

    • I’m glad that was typed with zero surprise, lol

  • Odeezy Liita

That’s ok. If Trump doesn’t follow through with his promises then you’ll have 60 million more people ready to start vigilante justice. I think he needs to tread VERY carefully and realize WHY he’s in the position he’s in. The second civil war will commence.

  • My old crew used to call each other “good guys” and we were anything but at the time.

  • firstresponder

The US political system never offers anything but fake alternatives, and fake reformers. Donald Trump is no exception.

  • Joey Lopez

Tactics people, its called tactics. Hes already the target of every news outlet, no need to give them more weapons to use. He needs to be professional. As president, you really dont have freedom of speech anymore and its better to act rather than talk, lest the enemy get wise to your plots. What did you people expect him to say? That shes a fat pig and he will ensure that shes thrown into a sewer for life? Hillary went into a rage on election night for a reason. Lets wait for his first 100 days before we jump to conclusions.

  • Rumplestiltskin

“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss,…. I get on my knees and pray, we don’t get FOOLED AGAIN.” (Insert Rodger Daltry SCREAM when appropriate.)

  • Tatiana Covington

That should be left to the courts and prosecutors. Trump should stay out of it.

  • john

Wont that be the new AG decision to make? The mess goes much deeper
    than Emails.

  • James Wood

I’m sure they called each other nightly sharing a good laugh over all of this.
