The Declining West: Tragedy or Comedy?

During the Vietnam War, Sweden was an independent country with a moral conscience, and Sweden gave sanctuary to US war protestors who refused the draft. Washington realized the cost to itself and purchased the Swedish government in order to prevent a reoccurrence of moral conscience on the part of any Western government.
In the aftermath of World War II and during the subsequent decades of the Cold War with the Soviet Union, the Western nations presented themselves as the moral conscience of the world. It turns out that this was largely a hoax. The âWestern nationsâ are merely pawns complicit in Washingtonâs crimes as Washington attempts to shut down all information in its pursuit of world hegemony.
Mark Weisbrot writing in Aljazeera has this to say about Washingtonâs use of its puppet government in Sweden to pursue Julian Assange for publishing leaked documents that reveal Washingtonâs mendacity and deception of other countries:Â http://www.aljazeera.com/
âThere is a wealth of evidence that the US is very much interested in punishing Assange, and it keeps growing: on August 18, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that Australiaâs foreign service was aware that US authorities had been pursuing Assange for at least 18 months. And on August 24, Craig Murray, a former UK ambassador and 20-year career diplomat there, reported that his colleagues at the UK foreign office knew better than to make the unprecedented threat of invading Ecuadorâs embassy, but did so under pressure from Washington.
âLike many European countries, including of course the UK, Swedenâs foreign policy is closely allied with that of the US government. This is not the first time that Sweden has collaborated with its Washington allies to violate human rights and international law. In 2001, the Swedish government turned over two Egyptians to the CIA so that they could be sent to Egypt, where they were tortured.
âSwedenâs action brought condemnation from the UN and the government was forced to pay damages to the victims; both were later cleared of any wrongdoing. Polls showed that Swedes considered this crime the worst political scandal in their country in 20 years.
âSweden is a highly developed social democracy that has many guarantees of civil rights and liberties to its citizens. The people of Sweden should not allow their government to continue to disgrace itself in another international governmental crime â this one a pernicious attack on freedom of expression â simply because Washington wants them to do so.â
Washington or Israelâessentially the same thingâhas caused the puppet government in Canada to end Canadaâs diplomatic relations with Iran for no reason whatsoever. The Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird in an unusual show of ignorance, even for him, condemned Iran as a âthreat to global security.â No intelligent person could possibly believe that Iran comprises a threat to global security.
Look at John Baird. He even looks like a madcap idiot. What has become of Canadians who once were an intelligent tolerant people that they put in office madmen? Baird, after being informed by his staff that Iran lacked the oomph to be a global security threat, changed his reason and insisted that he broke off diplomatic relations with Iran because of Iranâs hostility toward Israel. This brought Canadaâs moronic foreign minister even louder laughter. It is Israel that has been threatening Iran with military attack and demanding that the US join in, not Iran threatening Israel with attack.
Western nations have become a caricature of hypocrisy. If Western countries werenât armed with nuclear weapons, the larger world would be rolling in laughter.
Canadian FM John Baird

Isnât capitalism great? It has such a highly refined moral conscience.

you are an idiot
Well said. How about those Canadians? Lots of draft resistors went to Canada and stayed there for several years to avoid the draft. Makes me wonder how many of them stayed their after the amnesty came.
(O_o) I don’t like the way this guy wrote this article. I see his points, but I could do without all his whining. It made me feel that he’s very bias towards America & that his information is hate oriented & that he might have distorted some of the facts to make the US just look bad, not that they need any help in that department…lol. (o_0) Is it just me, or does anyone else think that John Baird is wearing a cheap rug on top his chrome-dome???~: )~*
(o_O) I will add that I have allot of respect for what Assange has helped to uncover in regards to human right violations that the US has committed around the world & I don’t agree with the US going after him like they are in an attempt to punish him for simply telling the truth. It makes America look evil in nature & gives all American a bad international reputation, which jeopardizes our safety abroad when traveling to other countries. I think that America should just apologize for the wrong doing it’s done & compensate the victims & make policy changes to help prevent things like this from ever happening in the future. By not doing this, we are essentially telling the rest of the world that we don’t respect their human rights & we think that we can get away with anything we want to if we just slap a phoney terrorist label on it, which greatly insults the intelligence of the international community at large. Several countries around the globe now view America as the new Nazi Germany & feel that they are hellbent on global domination. (0_o) How ironic it would be to one day have to watch America get invaded by other foreign countries in order to restore the true power to it’s people.
