Society Is Crumbling Right In Front Of Our Eyes And Banning Guns Won’t Help

What in the world is happening to America?  I have written many articles about how society is crumbling right in front of our eyes, but now it is getting to the point where people are going to be afraid to go to school or go shopping at the mall.  Just consider what has happened over the past week.  Adam Lanza savagely murdered 20 children and 6 adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.  42-year-old Marcus Gurrola threatened to shoot innocent shoppers and fired off more than 50 rounds in the parking lot of Fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach, California.  After police apprehended him, he told them that he “was unhappy with life”.  Earlier in the week, a crazy man wearing a hockey mask and armed with a semi-automatic rifle opened fire on the second floor of a mall in Happy Valley, Oregon.  He killed two people and injured a third.  On Saturday morning, a lone gunman walked into a hospital in Alabama and opened fire.  He killed one police officer and two hospital employees before being gunned down by another police officer.  So have we now reached the point where every school, every mall and every hospital is going to need armed security?  How will society function efficiently if everyone is constantly worried about mass murderers?

In response to the horrible tragedy in Connecticut, many in the mainstream media are suggesting that much stricter gun laws are the obvious solution.

After all, if we get rid of all the guns these crazy people won’t be able to commit these kinds of crimes, right?

Unfortunately, that is not how it works.  The criminals don’t obey gun control laws.  Banning guns will just take them out of the hands of law-abiding American citizens that just want to protect their own families.

Adam Lanza didn’t let the strict gun control laws up in Connecticut stop him from what he wanted to do.  Connecticut already has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, and Adam Lanza broke at least three of them.

However, if there had been some armed security officers or some armed teachers at that school, they may have had a chance to protect those dear little children from being brutally gunned down.

If gun control was really the solution to our problems, then cities that have implemented strict gun control laws should be some of the safest in the entire country.

But sadly, just the opposite is true.

For example, Chicago has very strict gun laws.  But 10 people were shot in the city of Chicago on Friday alone.  Chicago is now considered to be “the deadliest global city“, and the murder rate in Chicago is about 25 percent higher than it was last year.

So has gun control turned Chicago into a utopia?

Of course not.

And it won’t solve our problems on a national level either.

You can find more statistics about the futility of gun control right here.

Well, how would things be if we did just the opposite and everyone had a gun?

Would gun crime go through the roof?

That is what liberals were warning of when the city of Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law requiring every home to have a gun.  But instead of disaster, the results turned out to be very impressive

In March 1982, 25 years ago, the small town of Kennesaw – responding to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill. – unanimously passed an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Since then, despite dire predictions of “Wild West” showdowns and increased violence and accidents, not a single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting – as a victim, attacker or defender.

The crime rate initially plummeted for several years after the passage of the ordinance, with the 2005 per capita crime rate actually significantly lower than it was in 1981, the year before passage of the law.

Prior to enactment of the law, Kennesaw had a population of just 5,242 but a crime rate significantly higher (4,332 per 100,000) than the national average (3,899 per 100,000). The latest statistics available – for the year 2005 – show the rate at 2,027 per 100,000. Meanwhile, the population has skyrocketed to 28,189.

When criminals know that everyone has guns, they are much less likely to try something.  And often armed citizens are able to prevent potential mass murderers from doing more damage.  You can find several examples of this right here.

But of course most of our politicians are not interested in common sense.  Instead, they are obsessed with the idea that gun control will make our country “safe” again.

Senator Diane Feinstein says that she is ready to introduce a strict gun control bill in January that will “ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession” of many types of firearms.

Will such a law keep the criminals from getting guns?

No way.  Just look at what is happening with the cartels down in Mexico.  The criminals are always able to get guns.

If our “leaders” were really interested in stopping these mass murders, they would take a look at the role that mind-altering pharmaceutical drugs play in these incidents.  If you look at the mass murders that have occurred over the past several decades, in the vast majority of them the murderer had been using mind-altering pharmaceutical drugs

The Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) has raised concerns about severe acts of violence as side effects of anti-psychotic and antidepressant drugs not only on individuals but on society as well.

Just a month ago PRWeb described drug induced violence as “medicine’s best kept secret.”

And the Citizens Commission on Human Rights International (CCHRI) is calling for a federal investigation on its web page which links no less than 14 mass killings to the use of psychiatric drugs such as Prozac and Paxil.

And guess what?

According to the Washington Post, one neighbor says that Adam Lanza was “on medication”.

But will our politicians ever consider a law against such drugs?

Of course not.  The big corporations that produce those drugs give mountains of money to the campaign funds of our politicians.

So the focus of the debate will remain on guns.

And a lot of liberals would have us believe that our society could be transformed into some type of “utopia” if we could just get rid of all the guns.

Unfortunately, that is simply not true.  Our society is in an advanced state of moral decay, and this moral decay is manifesting in our society in thousands of different ways.  The corruption runs from the highest levels of society all the way down to the lowest.

For those that believe that gun control would somehow “fix America”, I have some questions for you…

Down in Texas, one set of parents kept their 10-year-old son locked in a bedroom and only fed him bread and water for months.  Eventually he died of starvation and they dumped his body in a creek.

Would banning guns have kept that from happening?

A pastor in north Texas was recently assaulted by an enraged man who beat him to death with an electric guitar.

Would banning guns have kept that from happening?

Police up in New Jersey say that a man kept his girlfriend padlocked in a bedroom for most of the last 10 years.

Would banning guns have kept that from happening?

A 31-year-old man up in Canada was found guilty of raping an 8-year-old girl, breaking 16 of her bones and smashing her in the face with a hammer.

Would banning guns have kept that from happening?

According to the FBI, a New York City police officer is being accused of “planning the kidnap, rape, torture and cannibilization of a number of women”.

Would banning guns have kept that from happening?

A Secret Service officer that had been assigned to protect Joe Biden’s residence has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Would banning guns have kept that from happening?

Over in Texas, a very sick 29-year-old man stabbed his girlfriend to death and then burned his one-year-old baby alive because she had gone to court and filed for child support.

Would banning guns have kept that from happening?

Over in Utah, a 21-year-old man is accused of stabbing his grandmother 111 times and then removing her organs with a knife.

Would banning guns have kept that from happening?

There are more than 3 million reports of child abuse in the United States every single year.

Would banning guns keep that from happening?

An average of five children die as a result of child abuse in the United States every single day.

Would banning guns keep that from happening?

The United States has the highest child abuse death rate on the entire globe.

Would banning guns keep that from happening?

It is estimated that 500,000 Americans that will be born this year will be sexually abused before they turn 18.

Would banning guns keep that from happening?

In the United States today, it is estimated that one out of every four girls is sexually abused before they become adults.

Would banning guns keep that from happening?

If there was a way to take all of the guns away from all of the criminals, I would be all in favor of it.  Unfortunately, no government on the planet has been able to do that.

Instead, we have seen that criminals thrive whenever gun bans are instituted and the guns are taken away from law-abiding citizens.

But the bottom line is that our social decay will not be solved either by more guns or less guns.

Our social decay is the result of decades of bad decisions.  We have pushed morality out of our schools, out of government and out of almost every aspect of public life.  Now we are experiencing the bitter fruit of those decisions.

And this is not a problem that our government is going to be able to fix.  Violent crime increased by 18 percent in 2011, and this is just the beginning.

As our economy gets even worse, the rot and decay that have been eating away the foundations of America are going to become even more evident.  The number of Americans living in poverty grows with each passing day, and millions upon millions of people are becoming very desperate.

Desperate people do desperate things, and crime, rioting and looting are going to become commonplace in the United States in the years ahead.

So you can pretend that the government is going to be able to keep our society from crumbling all you want, but that is not going to help you when a gang of desperate criminals has invaded your home and is attacking your family.

We definitely should mourn for the victims in Connecticut.  It was a horrible national tragedy.

But this is just the beginning.  The fabric of our society is coming apart at the seams.  The feeling of safety and security that we all used to take for granted has been shattered, and the streets of America are going to steadily become much more dangerous.

I hope that you are ready.

Never read any articles by Michael Snyder before, but will now look forward to them without a doubt! FANTASTIC WRITING ABILITY… THANK YOU FOR POSTING!

  • J. Rose Barlow

Michael, I read every word you wrote on this article, & I agree with you 1000%. But I would go one step further & suggest EVERY head of household should “own & maintain a gun” in America. Not just in this city or that. Crime DOES GO DOWN when criminals know everyone is armed to the teeth & ready, willing & able to stand & fight back. Look at Sweden, I think it is, where the crime rate is almost nil because almost all citizens carry guns, know how to use them, & will defend what is rightfully theirs. I’ve been saying this for over 2 years now, but people just won’t WAKE UP! They have their heads up their wazoo’s, & won’t do anything but complain. I know that most people who don’t own or know much about guns are the ones who yell the loudest against them. I also know that a criminal will very rarely go up against anyone who will fight back! They don’t want the hassle, or take the chance of getting killed or badly injured themselves! Please keep fighting this gun control ‘thing’(with me, & those who feel the way we do about it) & let’s get people turned around in their way of thinking about guns. I have a gun in each room of my home, near where I am most of the time, & carry in my car & on my motorcycle at all times. I don’t even conceal them! I want people to KNOW I will ‘take them out’ if they threaten me, my loved ones, or my property. If I point a gun at someone, I WILL shoot them,& I WILL shoot first & ask questions later, & since that’s the way I was raised & lived all of my life. I am a responsible 66 year old woman quite capable of taking care of me & mine. NO ONE WILL EVER TAKE MY GUNS AWAY FROM ME FOR ANY REASON. They’ll have to pry them out of my cold dead hands to get them. I’m just glad to hear another person, a true American patriot, feel & speak as I do. It’s quite refreshing. Thank You for being YOU, & ‘listening’ to me, Michael. You are very appreciated. Jinie Rose Barlow (my full name is between you & me only, please)

Rose my dear you have a point. I have never owned a ‘wretched gun’. Been to local clay pigeon shoots and thats the closest I got to ‘those God damn shooters’ LOL. However, I am seriously researching where to get hold of said illegal in Europe, weapon. BTW gun ownership is not overly widespread in Sweden. Worse, Stockholm has twice the crime rate as Philadelphia, a city about the same size. Happy Xmas x

    • OhYa

No, you’re thinking of Switzerland where military service is mandatory and everyone who is active duty gets to take their service rifle home with them and when you leave the service, you get to keep your service rifle.

  • http://myjournalkohn.blogspot.com/ Kristie

We have several firearms in our home and I am against any form of gun control. However, I also disagree with the idea of requiring people to own and maintain a firearm. Just let people live their lives.

The largest supplier in the world of arms and military equipment decides it is going to make a change in its domestic policy regarding gun ownership and safety.

Overseas weapons sales by the United States totaled $66.3 billion last year, or more than three-quarters of the global arms market, valued at $85.3 billion in 2011. Russia was a distant second, with $4.8 billion in deals.

Pardon my rants LOL but I am truly a changed man obsessed with the idea of living ‘off grid’. I have Facebook friends in Jamaica and Barbados who say keeping chickens and vegetable plots is common place. Slingshot caterpaults for wild birds cooked and roasted. And, wild mangos grow by the roadside. Delicious! Here, UK, roadside brambles (blackberry bushes) have all been hacked down. Told its to stop drunks urinating in them and eliminate hiding places for terrorists and paedophiles along the High Street. I say free fruit is seen as Piracy to the Tesco’s Metro Centre which we usually go for our 5 a day. And, I could swear grasshoppers which I caught and ate raw as a child are nowhere to be seen any more.

A lot of people believe more investment on education and a youth centered society will lead to utopia. They have it all backwards. The focus should be on education of workers and better paying jobs. This will strenghten society and families more than diversity training and free meals at school. This is teaching more youth to ignore authority and direction as the government has become their new mom and dad. But I guess any dad is better than none at all.

    • SKIP

Education is always “for the children” when in fact it is for unteachable blacks, welfare EBT moms and thieving self serving black school “administrators” to skim from. At least when the mafia catches one of their own skimming..the consequences are…….unfortunate!

  • Sir Vile

i didn’t see any mention of big pharma’s role in a lot of these ‘crazy guy’ shootings.

    • Ken, your UK friend

Big Pharma have identified no end of growth opportunities and you will see this in the coming years. Eg have you seen the Autistic Spectrum Test? I scored 35% and this is about average. The theme of invent a disease then charge a fortune for its ‘cure’ is the hallmark of all cults. BTW dont take Prozac and if forceably prescribed just say you’ve taken your med when you really havnt. Everyone Ive ever known on anti depressants got rapidly worse eg totally bizzare behaviour even sleeping around which it would serve no useful purpose to go on about.
BTW I gave up vitamins July 2008 because Holland & Barrett and GNC kept increasing their prices obscenely and I suffered shakiness, faintness etc. I know nothing about the chemical manufacturing process of so called vitamins and what the raw ingredients are. I guess petroleum LOL.
And, how come I’m the only team member in work who avoided the flu jab yet touch wood, is super fit and cold free as Xmas approaches? Seasons greetings.

  • Ken, your UK friend

Further to the issue of meds:- no personal experience of drug addiction but all addicts can relate to that dreadful experience of a ‘bad trip’. Surely the same risk exists with prescribed psychoactive drugs which are also dangerously addictive? Ask any alcoholic:- sometimes the drink fails to make him happy go lucky at parties. He gets more depressed, morbid, full of self pity, even starting fights.
Islam and Scientology are in for some serious stick but they hit the nail on the head when it comes to intoxicants.

The one main fact that Michael Snyder missed was this: enter “China school slayings” into a search engine. Isn’t it amazing that a country that has really strict gun laws still have “idiots” killing kids. The only difference is that they use cleavers, hammers and machetes. In the one instance, a “security gaurd” was killed! Regulating “tools” doesn’t stop the human “idiot”.

  • http://spiritnewsdaily.com Donovan Moore

Actually, there is far less violence today than 100, 1000, or 2,000 years ago. If you don’t believe me, you can look it up. What we do have more of is NEGATIVE NEWS. You really need think about the difference and publish accordingly. Thank you.

and don’t forget all of these bleeding heart liberals want to “protect the children” and pretend they value life as they wipe away their fake tears yet they vote in legislation the murders the most innocent among us – 4000 of them everyday in the abortion mills AND even condone, accept and make legal partial birth abortion. and heaven forbid should one of these poor babies survive a botched abortion – obama the anti-christ says to kill it – let it die, don’t save that baby. people don’t want to be burdened with a baby. Diane FineSTAIN makes me sick along with the other fakers obama and nancy crazy bastard pelosi and many more of these liars, evil doers and charlatans. and I wonder how many of these leg crossers in the liberal media are for “choice” because it’s a woman’s body and that’s ok to murder children then. I wonder how many of them have murdered children or held somone’s hand while it was happening. THE HYPOCRISY IS MADDENING. These politicians and people in the media are deceivers, they belong to satan and they are true mass-murderers. it kills me that they then sit around and judge someone else for killing when they do it everyday by the laws they have passed. these people just want control and will use any means necessary to get it – they have to somehow get their hands on our guns so they can enslave us and they will use this horrible and heartbreaking tragedy of these poor little innocent babies in Connecticut to do it. the only comfort is they are all now with the Lord Jesus. these liars could care less about the lives of children and people in general. I can’t wait for Jesus – I hope He hurries up.

The importance contemporary society puts on the accumulation of “things” also contributes to this. The thing is we don’t actually need any of these things.Yet it is the need for these things that has caused the rich to become richer, and the poor to be screaming unfair. T.V. was the begining of the end for all.

A message to the Sandyhook and Newton families and community:
After much mournful contemplation and shedding of an abundance of tears.
My heart and prayers go out to the hurting families and friens, I to am at awe as to why? Im sure many question even blame God, blame lack of gun control, blame evil? The real question is not WHY it happened? But WHAT has happened? Please allow me a few minutes to elaborate on each of these questions being asked and addressed as to who is to blame? Let me first address those that say we need gun control. Sorry with all due respect seeking and demanding gun control is not the answer as most crimes are committed with illegal weapons, and if a person wishes to harm others with weapons they will find weapons anyway they can legal or illegal. Matter of fact what happen at Newton is the very reason we need the right to bare arms, to be able to protect us from such evil and hate.
Now let me address those who choose to blame God, I do and will not make light of the pain and hurt the Newton community is feeling. Even for those who shake an angry fist at God and curse or criticize him. I believe God is big enough and sincere and loving enough to understand their pain and hurt and look beyond their angry expressions for the time being. God is not the author of hurt, pain, misery and death, Yes he has the power to intervene as to why he didn’t I cannot explain or make excuse. But one thing I know is not to ever try to judge or reason Gods ways or justice, Gods willingness or unwillingness to move, Gods mercy or Gods judgment, and most of all Gods LOVE or how GOD chooses to reveal or express it? We should never try to figure out and reason God with and through our finite human reasoning process, Else we always come up wrong or short in our evaluation, ‘ God said his ways are not our ways” “ That his plans for us were to prosper us, to heal us, to give us a future..” his reasoning and wisdom is above our wisdom” And at times there is no reasonable answer in sight? This is why he said “ THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH” May I insert here to the hurting individuals who have lost loved ones There is no magic formula, no amount of words , no secret potion u can take that will bring comfort and peace. But there is a God who cares, who loves you so very much, who can heal, who can comfort, who can help, he said “ come unto me all who are hurting and heavily laid with worries, all who are broken and burdened, sad and weary and I will give you rest for your souls” “ for I care for you” My fren and family this may be difficult to understand, let alone accept, but may I share this thought or idea with you? This life for all its worth. With all its joys and happiness and hurts and pain, this 5, 10 20, 30, 50, 70, 90, 100 years That God gives us here on earth. Do you even realize that its just temporal? It may seem forever, but truth be told its not. We tend to think and dwell on this physical plain we live on as our only life? Not realizing we are eternal beings. And once we leave this temporal realm, leave this earthly body, we then begin our eternal life with or without GOD? Depending on the choices we made here on earth. Believe me or not ‘ If your in right standing with your God, there will be a sweet, glad, joyfilled, wonderous reunion one sweet day on the sunny banks of sweet deliverance, aka Heaven’s home. Rest assured I make no light of ur loss but realize they are in the very presence of a loving , kind, caring God, ( Please hear me) No more tears, no more pain, no more death” Now those were Gods words and He’s no liar. One day you will see them again, laugh again, hug again, kiss again, but for the time being, hold on to that loss loved one, cherish their memory, love and remember their smile, be kind and give to others as they would. And more than anything be ready for that day when you greet them again!
Now to address the last individual to blame? And rightly so! Was it because of EVIL?
Now we right place the blame, but maybe we should elaborate how that evil works and who that evil uses and why? How did this evil become so dominant and pervasive? May I ask how do we expect people to live and act? If we reject Gods attributes? Gods moral values? We don’t want God in our schools, our Govt, our jobs, our homes and our hearts and even in some of our CHURCH’S ? We have literally kicked him out and give him no say in our lives, never credit God for the good in life but quick to always blame God for the bad in life? Look around you, Evil is everywhere and without abandonment. Our hollyweird porn stars and their sexual and violent movies, the so called famous models who run around naked for money and fame, and are examples to our young naïve and innocent children, listen to the vulgar, violent and demeaning music that sexualizes and glorifies abuse of women and violence. The fashion industry and its blatant sexualization of young girls and boys. Then theres the very very violent video games that glorify violence and criminality in society. And on and on we go with doing our own thing at the cost of others. Then we scratch our heads in bewilderment when somebody does something evil and sick and hateful. Wake up we need God back in our lives and more than ever in our hearts! We need to talk about him, think about him, live with him and live like him! We need godly music, godly movies and godly fashion models and designers! Not the kind who claim to have Christ yet dress like the world and sexualize themselves with what they wear. No I don’t judge you but Gods word sure does! If ur living in a sinful lifestyle and doing those things otherwise don’t sweat it,
