Socialist Venezuala to Be “Shut Down” for a Week Due to Energy Shortages

The slow motion collapse of Venezuela continues unabated. Ever since the price of oil fell and pulled the rug out from under their socialist government, Venezuela has been going to hell in a handbasket. The country has experienced price controls, inflation, food shortages, dissident roundups, and mob violence. The situation has deteriorated to such an extent, that the capital city of Caracas is now the most violent urban area in the world.

And on top of all that, the population is facing widespread electricity shortages, despite the fact that Venezuela is a nation brimming with easily accessible oil. It’s so bad that President Maduro has ordered the entire country to shut down for a week during the Easter holiday. Originally a two-day holiday was planned, but the president has told the nation’s workforce that they need to stay home for another three days.

Maduro has blamed the electricity shortages on El Niño, which unlike in the United States, has resulted in drought conditions that are crippling hydroelectric dams across the country. “Sabotage” by political opponents has also been blamed by the increasingly paranoid Maduro regime. Critics of the socialist government have come up with a more believable explanation for the power shortages: Lack of maintenance for Venezuela’s energy infrastructure, and poor planning.

Ah, Socialism, the answer to all of our free-loading prayers….Oh, whoops, I guess it didn’t work out according to the lies that we were sold. Now we’re hungry, cold, and sitting in the dark while we listen to the unrestrained violence and looting outside of our doors. We sit, defenseless, waiting for our own door to be kicked in – either by the looters or government forces.
Wake Up, People! Its time to take a stand and fight against our Democrat and Liberal-lead slide into a delusional Socialist “utopia” that we are being incrementally conditioned/bullied to accept.

Worst part is that history shows socialism doesn’t work! Some people just never learn, which would be fine, if they didn’t insist upon dragging everyone else down with them.

      • Split the country in half and give half to the socialists on one condition, you’re not allowed to come back to the other side after it all fails, your choice is permanent… oh well, I can wish!

I’m right here wishing with ya lol! How’ve you been? How’s the snakes, your girl, doing?

The country is defacto run by the IMF. Go live under the IMF. Crony capitalism only exists while there are other people’s assets to steal.

          • Everybody’s doing well, thanks! Ordering a cage for my youngest, he’s about 7ft now and getting dangerous, he needs to be hook trained like my large retic but he’s not so we have some work to put in with him. He’s really cool though and a great animal he just like his food and is aggressive about it. His cage is now wire-tied until the new cage gets here, don’t need him breaking out and killing my cat in the middle on the night.

See my comment above…the IMF has trashed the economy.

    • Nexusfast123

Go do some research. This country has been subject to de-facto IMF financial rule since 2009. Disaster capitalism from the IMF to collapse the government and steal that countries assets and as a by-product of this get another vassal. As for the people…no one cares.

Socialism only failed in Venezuela because they didn’t do it right. If we try it in America I’m sure that it will work this time. It’ll be great. Everyone can sit at home and collect welfare, nobody will have to work. The government will pay for everything. And since they can just print more money, they’ll never run out, so the gravy train can run forever and ever. I can take all the free money I get and go to the store and buy whatever I want and……but since nobody will work, there won’t be anyone at the store……well, everything is free anyway, so there is no need to have anyone there……but when the store runs out of stuff there won’t be anyone to bring more stuff……maybe the government can bring more stuff……I’m sure it’ll work out somehow. The government is really smart, they know what to do.
If anyone spent just a few minutes thinking about how a socialist government would work, and I mean really use critical thinking skills to figure out that if the government pays people who won’t work, with money they got from people who work, and eventually people stop working because the government will pay you if you don’t, and eventually just about everyone will stop working because they are either lazy or they make more money from welfare than any job they could get, or because they are taking more and more money out of their paychecks to make up for the fact that there are more people collecting welfare than there are people working and paying into it, that eventually and inevitability the government will no longer be able to support the people who don’t work.
It’s all rainbows and sunshine until they run out of other people’s money.
