Russian Soldier Caught by ISIS, Calls Airstrike on His Own Position

Though Putin recently ordered most of Russia’s forces out of Syria, those who remain have proven that they are not to be trifled with. A special forces officer was recently killed during an operation in the Syrian city of Palmyra, though the exact day this occurred has not been divulged by Russian authorities. The circumstances surrounding his death have led many observers to call the unnamed officer a hero.

A spokesman for Russia’s military base in Syria announced the death on Thursday, and explained what happened to him. “An officer of Russian special operations forces was killed near Palmyra while carrying out a special task to direct Russian airstrikes at Islamic State group targets. The officer was carrying out a combat task in Palmyra area for a week, identifying crucial IS targets and passing exact coordinates for strikes with Russian planes.”

Unfortunately, the officer was discovered during the operation and was quickly surrounded by ISIS fighters. Instead of surrendering, he called in an airstrike on his own position, which led to his death and presumably took a few of the bastards with him. The officer is the 7th man to be killed during Russia’s military campaign in Syria. The announcement of his death marks the first time that the Russian government has admitted that its special forces are operating on the ground in Syria.

Agreed. Real, and intelligent. Blown up by your own planes is a better fate than being put in a cage and burned alive, or slowly beheaded with a knife, or crucified.

Eh…..an religion based entirely upon the premise of killing , converting, or subjugating every non believer on the planet? I’m betting he gets a pass on both counts.

I would of figured they would stick to the rules since that’s what keeps them from being the same.

The “thou shalt not kill” is nowhere in the original hebrew text, the original text was thou shalt not conmit murder! That was not murder that was taking out an depraved enemy and sacrificing himself to do it!

      • Those are both spacious human premises.

He died by the same sword he used…
such a tactic though is not available fer muslims..
though they use it all the time in suicide bombings ..
their suicide attacks er venomous and hateful under the guise of religious intent.. but the law repeated in the New testament several times does not give allowance fer merder.. here is a great witness of God’s judgment on the matter…Revelation 6:9-17
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
It is written in the bible, “he that killeth by the sword must die by the sword” Revelation 13: 10

  • D Stromm

Damn right the Russians have balls. Ask the Germans… It’s a damn shame that the sons of bitches running or trying to run this country are hell bent on demonizing them and pushing for a toe to toe military confrontation. Russia and the US could be allies, if we (the US) got our act together and quit with imperialistic ambitions to take over the planet so we can install more McDonald’s, GM food, and bullshit authoritarian laws. Is it any wonder that Putin doesn’t want to join our “club?”

  • molon_labe

Took some sack to go out like that. But it’s far better than the alternative that’s for sure.

    This man is a HERO!!

  • mayday911us.

Well some of the Russian special forces carry a hand grenade for themselves to avoid capture. With the ability to take out as many as the enemy as they can. It honestly doesn’t really surprise me that this person would call a airstrike on his position. At least the targeting was accurate with his position but that’s past danger close.

I actually would like to know how many of the Isis fighters was taken out in that airstrike.

    • Cyanide is cheaper. I’d like to know how much ISUS mercenaries cost.

      • mayday911us.

When you actually read The spetsnaz training manuals that’s what they do. It’s an absolutely different mentality to do that in the way you’re trained.

  • Dagwood Bumstead

Probably one of those Russian-Chechen badass Special Forces – read about them on one of the Russian news sites.

    • Russian-Chechen is like judeo-christian…

      • Dagwood Bumstead

Sorry, not sure what that means. You mean they go hand in glove?
The Chechen leader that is pro-Russian, (excuse me for not remembering his name) apparently runs one of the best Spetsnaz training camps in the world. Saw a Russian MOD feature on it. I’ll see if I can find the video if anyone is interested.

        • I’d be interested, although it probably wouldn’t explain the odd juxtaposition:-)

          • Dagwood Bumstead

OK Got several references to it (thought I had saved the video but apparently not) with exerceps of video I’m talking about. Apparently the entire clip was taken down. I’ll dig deeper and see if I can find the entire thing. Meanwhile here are some of the story links (using goo.gl links for neatness).
            http://goo.gl/eZLc4Z http://goo.gl/1PD0uE https://goo.gl/9bJthx http://goo.gl/BN88nb https://goo.gl/uhuDfJ

            So, seems legit.

          • Chechens spying for the Russian government would be treated like spies anywhere if they were caught. I think that the concept of a loyal spy is highly suspect.

          • Dagwood Bumstead

They were doing more than spying.

          • Which is why their loyalty would be in doubt.

          • Dagwood Bumstead

Well Putin and Russian military don’t seem worried

          • Dagwood Bumstead

No one is arguing how they’d be treated if caught – Nice Strawman though. You’re thinking of intelligence gathering is weird. Everyone does it. Anyway there are Special Forces doing things other than spying, on the frontlines.

          • When spooks become assassins, all bets are off.

          • Dagwood Bumstead

            Um, they’re undercover commandos.

          • We glorify them by calling them snipers, but they are just common traitors, violating their oaths to protect and defend the Constitutions, or what have you, of the government that is using them as assassins.

          • Dagwood Bumstead

OK WTH are you talking about now? Who said anything about snipers?!
I’m done, it’s clear you don’t really wish to discuss rationally.

          • If rationally (sic) were present, this website wouldn’t be needed.

  • If he was trapped, why did they let him call in that last coordinate?
