Paul Ryan: Gun Silencer Bill Is Officially Dead

For those hunters looking for a little more length to their leash, Paul Ryan says ‘nay.’ The gun silencer bill, which was scheduled to be voted on later this week, is now dead.

The NRA and GOP-backed bill would ease up on restrictions on silencers, but the shooting in Las Vegas has ground its progress to a screeching halt. At first, it appeared that the House was not going to delay the vote on this bill, but Paul Ryan says otherwise. The bill has been shelved.

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday said Republicans have no scheduled plan to vote on a bill that would ease rules on gun silencers, in the wake of the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history.

Reports had suggested the House could vote on the National Rifle Association-backed legislation, known as the SHARE Act, soon.

That bill is not scheduled now,” Ryan told reporters. “I don’t know when it’s going to be scheduled.” -CNBC

This bill was probably doomed from the beginning. Its first round of voting was delayed after the shooting of House Majority WHIP Steve Scalise. Coincidence?

Remember the last time that this law’s vote was delayed? SHTFPlan remembers. It was after the shooting of representative Steve Scalise while practicing baseball back in June. But that’s all just a coincidence, right?

The vote was postponed until early September. It passed out of House Committee on Natural Resources on a party-line vote of 22-13 on September 13 and it is expected to see a similar result when put up for a vote in the full House. Democrats in the Senate, however, are expected to block the measure; and they now have a crisis to exploit in order to do so. –SHTFPlan

The SHARE Act would be a bill that would help hunters. It includes provisions to ease restrictions on buying silencers and makes it harder for regulators to classify some types of ammunition as “armor-piercing.” Gun control advocates have opposed the bill while gun rights advocates see it as a slightly longer leash and an easing up on continually tightening regulations.

Many, included last year’s Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, have taken to social media to oppose not only the SHARE Act, but demand even more government control on guns.

Many believe that the task of passing gun control could be an uphill battle in a Republican-led government, even though gun control support always climbs after a mass shooting. But so do stocks in the firearm industry

Only time will tell how much this government will get away with.

Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.-hildabeast…

she is living proof you don’t need a silencer cause mass casualties…world would be a better place if she would just be silenced

    • NonYo Business

If you live in Utah or Idaho… its very easy to get a Suppressor licensed to your firearm… you need to be a non criminal and have a weapon to assign to it.

      • Adderall vs Vyvanse

Thank you for the great tip. I live here and did not know this.

        • NonYo Business

Ccw is also cheap and easy, all you need is proof of a firearm safety class

    • The “shooting” is a HOAX thanks to crisiscast.com.

  • Ratcraft

As a machinist of many a moon these are very simple to make. If you want one, you can make one. You can do the paperwork, pay the $200 get the approval and tax stamp. Make it and legally use it. You can also do the same darn thing and NOT do the paperwork. If someone wants one, they can get one. A suppressor only works with subsonic ammo, as in under 1000 feet per second.

    • So no .44mag revolver or SA.

      • Ratcraft

A suppressor on a .44 mag would be like muffler on a top fuel dragster.

    • Adderall vs Vyvanse

Which means a suppressor on a rifle like an AR-15 would be worthless as the muzzle speed is approaching 3,000 feet per second far higher than the speed of sound. Also IF it were possible to slow the round to sub-sonic- it would have an effective range of maybe 100 yards MAX and with very low energy- sub-lethal except if perfectly placed shot at the temple, eyeball, or back.

      • Ratcraft

Exactly my point. A suppressor will “curb” the actual explosion of the gun powder, it cannot mask the sonic crack that comes with a super sonic round.

  • NonYo Business

And this is why there are shootings. Can’t have innocent honest law abiding Citizens of the USA having any type of weapons tech…

    • HOAXES, not shootings, the fireworks sounds in NV are not even close to what a rifle or machine gun would sound like at 200-300m and NO noticeable delay effects at that distance.

      • gazoo3

Also the recording of the so called gun fire clearly sounds like the rate of fire increased and decreased. The only machine guns that have variable rate of fire have to change their components to alter the rate. The firing rate of speed can not change while the gun is being fired.

        • 1555

If it was an actual recording of what we are presented with.

          • gazoo3

I meant the video recordings of the event but yes maybe recorded gun fire sound effects. If you can find a gun that slows down and speeds up then please let me know.

      • 1555

Yes, it seems that so many know this. Since during the CT shooting there were only dead, no injured, by an untrained, non-existent autistic shooter, this time they gave plenty of injured. Yeh, since people pointed out for years now, that the 26 dead, zero injured, was impossible, they rectified their mistake. Yawn. Bad B Hollywood movie job again. Crisis actors written all over – again.

When I see/hear someone use the word “silencer,” I think, “too many movies, too little brain juice.”

People lacking brain juice are not to be considered in a debate.

    • Adderall vs Vyvanse

Exactly- if you NEED to kill someone less loudly than typical firearm- at a range of say 50 yards or less; a sub-sonic 22 LR (typical target practice plinker) rifle would do the job just fine.

  • John C Carleton

The scary part is the goons of government have all the machine guns, silencers, bombs, C-4, they can use, and give to ISIS.

    • Adderall vs Vyvanse

Which is WHY we will not allow Muslim Ryan to further infringe our 2nd rights.

  • Gil G

It’s clear the only right of the people was to shoot back at the mass shooter. Didn’t your own guns? Oops. I guess they deserved to die then.

    • SP_88

“Didn’t your own guns?” Didn’t your own guns what? What are you talking about?
If you are suggesting that these people should have fired back at him, I ask how? Guns aren’t allowed there. And even if they were, they would have all had pistols. And the shooter was 400 yards away. Nobody would be able to make a shot like that with a pistol. They would miss, and bullets would be going through the windows of other hotel rooms full of innocent people.
But you already knew that. You’re just being an idiot, as usual.
The price of living in a free society is that sometimes people will abuse that freedom. All we can do is to be prepared as best as we can so we can deal with that when it happens.
But people like you would rather make it illegal and impossible for us to be reasonably prepared. People like you would rather have us live under an authoritarian dictatorship that has absolute control over everyone.
Of course we already know how many millions die when that happens. But at least the people don’t have any of those “evil” guns.
I guess the end justifies the means.

  • Mark Robertson

I think Paul Ryan is officially brain dead.
He’s just another traitor in Washington.

    • Adderall vs Vyvanse

He is rumored to be sympathetic to ISIS. Senate essentially made him shave the beard because he looked too “Muslim”

  • patriot156

Figures! There’s your motive for the POS Vegas shooter!

  • Joe Canuski

Too bad this “shooter” didn’t target Congress….some good would have been done if he had…parasites!!! Nothing but a bunch of PC PUSSIES!!! Time to thin the herd in that shit hole we call our capitol….

  • Jr1776

Ryan is a Democrat, a traitor like McCain, typical knee jerk reaction, one crazy guy sets the president for millions of gun owners, horseshit !

  • Jr1776

    We need POLITICIAN CONTROL !

  • dav1bg

    FIX?

It’s not broken. It’s a God given right. There’s no more discussion about it.

Anyone saying otherwise is a clear and present danger to all of humanity.

Paul Ryan’s political career is what is dead.

  • Guillotine_ready

Right on time the MK Ultra chicken brought forth another egg.

  • tscull

Yes, because “silencers” were used in these shootings….NOT!

  • Laurence Almand

The term “silencer” is incorrect. They don’t “silence” anything, they merely suppress the loud noise, but don’t eliminate it. Even the best suppressors sound like a loud door slam. People get their ideas about “silencers” from the false scenes in movies, which make gunshots seem like puffs. (Keep in mind that all gunshots in films are toned down by the sound department. If the gunshots were at actual volume, the audience would leave the theater.)
The purposes of suppressors is to protect the hearing of the shooter. In some European countries, suppressors are quite easy to purchase, but these countries have a lower crime rate than the USA.

Two things about this article really irritated me. ! – The continual use of the wrong term for a ‘sound suppressor.,’ Anyone who ignorantly uses the term ‘silencer’ is supporting the liberal Hollywood myth that this device reduces the noise of a gunshot to a an almost inaudible puff of air. 2 – Although outdoor hunters will benefit from equipping their rifles with a sound suppressor, the main ones who’d benefit are those people who have guns in their homes for personal protection. If anyone should have to fire a gun indoors against an intruder, the loud noise will bounce off the walls and straight into the shooter’s ears, Clearly, protecting these people against hearing loss is a lot more important than how it might convenience some outdoor hunters.

    So’s your career.

Funny how the “worst mass-shooting in U.S. history” just happened to take place when this “silencer” bill was about to come to a vote.

I think we can expand the circle of “Suicide by Hillary Clinton” to include despicable and deplorable country Western Music and Country Western music concert-goers who are Trump supporters.

You got to hand it to Hillary. No messing around in Las Vegas. Her operatives showed-up with machine guns. What’s next? M1A1 tanks? Bazookas? Hellfire Missiles? Maybe a tactical nuke?

And even before the dead and wounded are counted, Hillary Clinton, the Democrats, and their operatives (like MSM, the “New York Times” and the “Washington Post” and CBS), are back right back pushing gun control and bump stock bans. They are going to get the silencers, too. Not bad for exploiting a mass-shooting for your own agenda.

These people are compete sociopaths. They have no pride and no shame.

I think all mass-shootings in the future need to take place in Washington, DC. Leave the rest of the country alone.

    • 1555

Very good observation – you get a straight A Jeff.
Hilary is after the kitchen knives next, so she is the only one left wielding one.
