Katie Claxton feared for her life when a man at a Springfield, Missouri gas station approached her car around 8 pm at a gas station last Sunday night.

Claxton’s husband pumped gas as she waited in their car with the couple’s four young kids when a stranger approached. In an attempt to lock the door, Claxton accidentally rolled the window down. The man then opened the door and brandished a long knife. Claxton yelled for her husband to grab his gun.

The man retreated at the mention of the weapon.

Via the Springfield News-Leader:

“He said ‘You’re lucky he has a gun,'” Claxton said. “And then he shut the door and started to back away.”

Claxton said her husband pointed his Beretta handgun at the man and called 911 as the man slowly walked away.

“Our Second Amendment right to carry is what saved our lives,” Claxton said. “If we didn’t have our right to carry, I feel like we wouldn’t be here today.”

After attempting to get into several people’s cars at a stoplight, the police arrived and the man was arrested shortly thereafter.

While the whole thing was over shortly, just imagine how your wife or girlfriend would react in this situation. While the Obama administration is busy chipping away at the Second Amendment in a bid to disarm everyone “for their safety,” these people would not have been more safe without their gun and if they waited for the police to protect them in a situation like this, they might be dead.

    • When seconds count, the police are minutes away (from doing paperwork).

      • Reverend Draco

When seconds count, the police are minutes away (from dusting off a crate of donuts).

        • That doesn’t work here, where there are no donut shops, nor enough cops to support one, if there was.

          • That may be true, but there is a lot more of methamphetamine and alcohol, both of which are much more harmful, IMO. There is no vice department in the local police or sheriff’s departments, and the state patrol pays more attention to drug interdiction than other of the local agencies.

gotta’ upvote even you on that one

  • Too bad they are so ignorant about the second amendment that they think it had anything to do with them having the common sense to provide for their own defense.

    • Broadview 8214

Without the second amendment, the husband might not have been able to legally carry a handgun. Missouri is a concealed carry state. Of course, if you are not concerned about the constitution or state laws, you can always carry a handgun without a permit. I think that’s what the comment is referencing. So I don’t they they are ignorant but perhaps you just aren’t able to connect the dots.

      • The second amendment doesn’t give anyone a right to carry anything. If you will just read it, it tells Congress not to infringe that right, which, depending on your religious persuasions, comes either from God or the creator that the men who wrote the amendment referred to. Just by being alive, you have the right to self defense, and the second amendment is merely a corollary that instructs Congress to refrain from interfering with it.

Best comment I read in a long time.

        • Jas

lol….So you are saying the 2nd amendment doesn’t work as intended because ALL levels of government openly infringe upon it with out punishment.

          • AllodialTitle

try reading next time before blathering ignorance

    • Doc Eckleburg

Your comment is just plain rude. You could have easily made your statement without being rude.

      • There is nothing ruder than blatant ignorance on a website dedicated to waking up the ignorant. If you want diplomacy, talk to Hitlary.

        • Doc Eckleburg

Wrong. There is. Your statement is rude pure and simple. The writer’s ignorance of the facts you present is not blatant. If you disagree, get an AR 15 an attempt to convert it to a machine gun, and I’ll visit you while you’re doing ten years in Leavenworth. When information you provide is stated in the previously mentioned manner it is ignored, regardless of the validity of the information.
Your next post provides an explanation of your thoughts presented matter of factly, and which I wholeheartedly agree, but without the rudeness.

          • Are you in the business of converting Beretta handguns into full-auto AR15s?
I couldn’t give a rats ass if the information I provide is ignored when you are acting like the moron who would light a match in a coal mine to find out why the canary got quiet.
If you don’t like my directness, go back to your monastery.

that’s his MO. his forte,,,it is spawned from arrogance

  • Tatiana Covington

You’re entitled to carry anyway, simply because you jolly well feel like it. The hell with everyone else.

  • Kim Real

Just find all the events that’s involved a firearm that saved a life post to the press. The word will get out if we start actively rubbing their nose in the reasons we want to carry is we know there is no Calvary going to ride in to save us from the bad guys. Shame the media for carrying the water for hypocritical administration that arms evil doers to keep the dictators of Saudi Arabia in power.

    • You see Obama calling people conspiracy theorists for thinking he is going for their guns? A statement like that from the terrorists that be is indicative of an awakening populace they are now facing.

  • RandyJ/ProudSurvivor

I hate to nit pick, but it would seem the Beretta is what actually saved their lives. The 2nd Amendment helped make it possible. Hand and glove I suppose.

wont see this story on lame stream media. Does not fit their narrative.

Just think – the hoplophobic, anti-rights bigots would have had this couple ended at that gas station.

I say, fuck them all – right in the neck (with a syringe full of blue shit).
