One of Obama’s new campaign ads features the story of Brian Slagle, an auto-worker in Ohio, who was worried that during the recession he would lose his job.
The Toledo Blade and ABC news report that Slagle was an employee of Johnson Controls. The ad shows him getting up early to head into a job that provides for his young family. And he’s really grateful to Obama for it.
But should taxpayers feel the same way?
Johnson Controls received $299 million in taxpayer-funded stimulus dollars to make electric batteries and open up two factories in the U.S.
But never fear, Johnson Controls just announced last month that they will build a second plant after all…  in Kecskemet, Hungary. That’s from a story in the Milwaukee Business Journal.
Oh, and it was just reported earlier this month by Kevin Kistler that the battery plant where Slagle works in Springfield Township was hit with a hefty fine from OSHA for exposing employees to an unreasonable amount of lead.
So, to recap: Johnson controls got $299 million of taxpayer stimulus  and it resulted in 1 factory at half-capacity, outsourced jobs to Hungary, corporate downsizing, and the company is being fined for potential lead poisoning.
And this is the success story he is putting in his campaign ads.
Did you hear about the chinese banks being built in the usa? On my cnn money app. Interesting to see whst preditory terms will be offered. Wow lots of banks very unnecassary paying almost 0 interest.
We need to get real for a moment. Business, like any other critter, responds to stimulus. If the government was not so set on making it difficult to do business in the US, few companies would relocate or build factories off-shore. They do that because the world is VERY competitive and costs matter greatly. Businesses MUST make a profit if they are to survive, grow, and eventually thrive.
Hundreds of thousands of laws, rules, regulations, and permits are all lined up and waiting for anyone dumb enough to start a business here. THIS MUST STOP! Minimal laws, rules, and regs are necessary for an orderly society but we are WAY beyond that and into the bizarro world where only mega corps can afford to operate here because only they have the small army of lawyers and accountants necessary to thread their way through this jungle of useless crap.
The world is very competitive these days and any nations that will not recognize this and compete aggressively for manufacturing and the jobs that it creates WILL end up on the ash-heap of history. Intentionally making life difficult for those who would create jobs, goods and services, and prosperity here is asinine… yet it happens on a routine basis… and then everyone acts surprised that the economy sucks and the jobs have gone elsewhere. Well, DUH!
MAN,I didn’t know there were any companys still here(in the USA) judging by how fat all the WHORES are down at the BAR,I guest I thought only fast food places were left.YOU know like the ones selling rat poison and calling it food, getting big bucks for that crap to I mean!!!
